There are five scheduled meetings across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. They race at Yarmouth and Fontwell in the afternoon, before three cards at Kempton (AW), Limerick and Hamilton in the evening.

Wednesday's racing tips all come from Fontwell, headlined by an eight-year-old with a golden opportunity to exploit a lower hurdles rating.

Wednesday's Racing Tips

  • 14:13 Fontwell - Pyffo @ 13/8
  • 15:43 Fontwell - He Is A Cracker @ 7/2
  • 16:43 Fontwell - Amalfi Bay @ 7/4

14:13 Fontwell - Pyffo @ 13/8

The first suggestion is PYFFO in this six-runner novice hurdle - over 2m5f - at Fontwell.

The six-year-old has the beating of this field on these favourable terms based on RPRs and official ratings and the new father and son training partnership of Jonjo and AJ O'Neill were responsible for three winners in the past 14 days.

The son of Shantou will clearly take plenty of beating if reproducing his peak RPR of 123 which he achieved with an easy 17-length success over just shy of this trip at Market Rasen in March.

The selection has performed consistently in handicap and novice company subsequently and this longer trip on this course is going to suit better than when second at Hereford last month.

15:43 Fontwell - He Is A Cracker @ 7/2

HE IS A CRACKER makes significant appeal in this 10-runner handicap hurdle.

The eight-year-old is representing Gary Brown who is 7-60 with his runners at the Sussex venue and the 10lb-claiming jockey Isabelle Ryder is continuing her winning association in the saddle.

The Califet gelding went close in a similar Warwick contest over this sort of trip in May 2023 and, following two respectable Uttoxeter displays, he dotted up by 16 lengths over a slightly longer trip over fences on this course in a race that has worked out particularly well from September.

The selection was returning from a 248-day break when sixth over hurdles back at Warwick last month and that run should have teed him up nicely as he attempts to exploit a mark of 77 over hurdles, five pounds lower than his chase rating, back on this course.

Racing Post Ratings (RPRs) gave him 92 for that September course success over fences which clearly suggests he has leading claims if tapping into that figure over the smaller obstacles.

16:43 Fontwell - Amalfi Bay @ 7/4

AMALFI BAY looks sure to go well in this 10-runner handicap hurdle over 2m3f.

The six-year-old is representing Anthony Honeyball who is 3-10 in the past 14 days and is 78-247 (32% +£44.09) with his runners at Fontwell.

Sam Twiston-Davies is taking over in the saddle and he is 49-232 (21%) on this course and 11-79 (14%) when riding for Honeyball.

The Lope De Vega gelding is of immediate interest in a handicap hurdle from a mark of 88, seeing as he is rated 72 on the Flat, and it is notably encouraging that he was seen to be staying on into a close second over a slightly shorter trip at Stratford last month in a race which developed into a proper test at the distance.
