International friendlies
As matchday three gets underway in the CAF World Cup qualifiers the most interesting story surrounds Equatorial Guinea. Their defender-turned-striker Emilio Nsue, who was the top scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, has been banned from representing the nation after Fifa ruled that he has been ineligible to play for the nation throughout his 11-year career with them.
This is due to Nsue representing Spain at youth level in official competition, and so now Equatorial Guinea (10/1) are having to cope without their biggest goal threat. They travel to face Tunisia on Wednesday looking for their first points in Group H, while Tunisia have claimed maximum points from their opening two fixtures.
Tunisia are level with current leaders Namibia but are second in the table alphabetically. The two sides have both scored five goals and are yet to concede in this qualifying campaign. Namibia (19/20) face Liberia (11/4), who have won one and lost one so far, earlier in the evening.
Over in Europe, teams partaking in Euro 2024 begin their final preparations with friendlies this week ahead of the tournament commencing next Friday. Slovakia (1/66) host minnows San Marino (50/1) in what won't serve as a real test but more as an exercise to get minutes into the legs of players.
This will be similar for 2018 World Cup winners France (1/40) against Luxembourg (50/1), although this game will serve as an opportunity for the fringe members of Didier Deschamps' squad to prove their worth and push for a place in the starting XI at the Euros.
Euro 2020 semi-finalists Denmark (9/10) are in action against Scandinavian neighbours Sweden (3/1), looking to embark on another memorable journey on this stage this summer. The Danes' form has been impressive in recent international breaks and they will look to keep their momentum building as they face a tough Group C with the likes of England, Serbia and Slovakia.
