Leg 1 – Lecce vs Atalanta – Both Teams To Score – Yes @ 4/5

Although Lecce are already mathematically safe, this game, sandwiched between two cup finals, promises to be tricky for Atalanta. The visitors failed to perform to their high standards in Coppa Italia against Juve and never looked to have a clear plan on how to break the Bianconeri’s defence.

However, last Sunday, thanks to a 2-1 win against Roma, Atalanta almost secured Champions League football for next season. In the last 16 games the Bergamaschi have collected 38 points and scored 35 goals, therefore their 1-0 defeat at the hands of the ‘Old Lady’ was a real surprise.

Everyone remembers Atalanta's great victory at Anfield but, in fairness, the Orobici have been rather unreliable on the road this season. In fact, in Serie A they’ve only kept one clean sheet in their last 12 trips and they are seventh in the away table.

Lecce have remained scoreless in four of their last six domestic games, but have only lost back-to-back matches once this season (in February).

On Monday, Luca Gotti’s side were defeated at the ‘Via del Mare’ by Udinese but might profit from Atalanta making turnover ahead of their Europa League final. Seven of Atalanta’s last nine away league games have seen both teams score.

Leg 2 - Sassuolo vs Cagliari – Both Teams To Score – Yes @ 8/13

Cagliari could be saved if they win and both Frosinone and Empoli lose. Sassuolo, on the other hand, must at least draw to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

The hosts have had a disastrous season and probably, after many relatively calm campaigns, were never really prepared to face a fight to remain in Serie A.

The Neroverdi, who have picked up 12 of their 29 points against Inter, Juventus and Fiorentina, would be saved based only on their home form, but have got the second-worst defence with 72 goals conceded, half of which at the ‘Mapei’ Stadium.

This term, Cagliari have been equally bad on the road, having lost 12 of their 18 games and scored only 12 goals, which is Italy’s worst away attacking record.

Away from home, the Sardinians have always conceded against fellow strugglers, apart when they picked a vital 1-0 win at Empoli.

The most likely outcome is Both Teams To Score – Yes, in fact 67% of Cagliari games and 61% of those played by Sassuolo have ended with both sides on the scoresheet. Furthermore, both teams have scored in seven of the last nine meetings between these sides.

Leg 3 – Udinese vs Empoli – Under 2.5 Goals @ 8/13

The change on the bench has improved the hosts’ form. Under Fabio Cannavaro, at his first managerial experience in Serie A, Udinese have collected five points in three games and managed to come out of the bottom three.

Last Monday they achieved their first win to nil since February 2023 as all their last three games have produced no more than two goals.

Udinese are, alongside Salernitana, the team that has won less home games (just one) this season. Only once in the history of Italy’s top flight a team (Fiorentina in 1970/71) that won so few domestic games has managed to avoid relegation to Serie B.

The Friulani have shared the points in 10 home games, but have managed to score in five of their last six matches played in front of their fans.

Udinese could be mathematically saved this weekend if they win and both Frosinone and Sassuolo lose. Otherwise, everything will be decided next week when they travel to Frosinone.

Empoli are having a torrid time in front of goal. They’ve scored in only two of their last 10 games and have been defeated to nil in all their previous five trips.

Looking at the way Davide Nicola’s men played against Lazio, you’d expected them to find the back of the net at least in one of their two remaining league games.

But because there have been Under 2.5 Goals in 12 of Empoli’s last 15 Serie A matches, it’s very unlikely this relegation six-pointer is going to be a classic.

Leg 4 - Salernitana vs Verona – Both Teams To Score – Yes @ 4/5

Verona might take on the pitch on Monday, knowing that a draw would be enough to guarantee them salvation.

This is a big advantage for Marco Baroni’s side and a factor that could make the odds change quite dramatically.

In fact, if Frosinone, Sassuolo and Empoli all fail to win, the visitors will just need a point, against bottom of the table Salernitana, to earn their right to remain in Serie A.

Verona were the last team against whom the hosts won, 1-0, on 30 December. Since then Salernitana have recorded an incredibly consistent streak of negative results: four defeats, one draw, three defeats, one draw, three defeats, one draw, four defeats and last Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Juventus.

You read it right. For the last 18 games, Salernitana have not been able to get points in two consecutive match days. But, credit to them, they have not thrown the towel.

In fact they’ve scored in four of their last six home games and they’ve always managed to find the back of the net at least once at the ‘Arechi’ against teams involved in the relegation fight this season. Verona have won only two games on the road, both 1-0 against Empoli and Lecce and in lucky circumstances.

The Scaligeri have scored in four of their last five away games and have never been defeated heavily away from home. In fact, they’ve lost just one game, 3-1 against Sassuolo, by more than a goal margin.
