Football Bet of the Day: Leeds and Norwich to deliver an exciting encounter

Leeds United and Norwich City are in Championship action at Elland Road on Wednesday night (19:45) as the hosts look to build on their three-match winning streak.

They left it late to beat Preston North End on home soil over the weekend courtesy of a Joel Piroe penalty but now Daniel Farke will look for a more comfortable victory against the Canaries.

A win on Wednesday will see them move within one point of Southampton in third, although they will have played one game more than the Saints.

Norwich head into this one having been on an upturn of form recently. After taking a point from Southampton, they have posted back-to-back victories over promotion-chasing rivals Hull City and West Bromwich Albion.

David Wagner's side will be looking to now become a thorn in the side of another top-ten outfit in Leeds.

Football Bet of the Day - Wednesday 24 January

  • Leeds and both teams to score @ 7/4

With both teams in fine form ahead of this midweek clash, we like the look of Leeds and both teams to score at 7/4. The hosts were rather fortunate against Preston to keep their winning streak going but they will know that they will need to be significantly better if they are to be in with a chance of taking one of the automatic promotion spots.

They are going to go up against Southampton in trying to remove Ipswich Town from that position and they are competing with a Saints side that is currently on an incredible 20-game unbeaten run in the second tier that started in September.

Farke knows what he is up against and so too will his players. They will have to be just as strong in this half of the campaign to keep themselves in the running for the top two.

With a successive match on home soil we do fancy their chances to extend their winning run to four games. It won't be easy against a resurgent Norwich side, but for how good they have been these past few weeks, inconsistency has been a huge problem for them throughout the campaign.

Even now you still can't call what kind of performance you're going to see from Wagner's men. If they can handle themselves against Leeds in the way that they have against other promotion rivals in recent weeks, it will be a big indication that they are starting to settle themselves.

They boast one of the star players of the season in Jon Rowe as part of their front line, and he has been one of the standout stories from the Championship this year.

After being set for an exit from Carrow Road in the summer, Rowe has made himself a key figure for the men in yellow and has found the back of the net 12 times in 26 appearances. If anyone is going to score for Norwich in this one, you're convinced it will be this man.

While he carries a lot of attacking threat, it won't be enough to match what Leeds have at their disposal. Piroe, Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Dan James have all been prolific in front of goal this year.

And like Rowe, Summerville has been one of the most entertaining players to watch in the division, and he will likely have a huge role to play in the outcome of this game.

This game may be a marker of just how far both these sides can go this term and it is all set up to deliver an intriguing battle at Elland Road. But due to the range of firepower that they have, we're backing Leeds to get another win under their belt. However, we do strongly believe that the Canaries will get in on the goalscoring action.
