Over 2.5 Goals Tips: A Saturday 18/1 Acca across the UK Coupon
Last week I really rolled the dice with a 54/1 tenfold that actually came really quite close to coming in. Seven of the ten matches were winners and all three of the losers were 1-1 draws.
I've scaled it back a bit this Saturday with six-matches featured at just shy of 19/1 as of the time of writing...
Saturday Over 2.5 Goals Tips:
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Cardiff City vs Leeds United @ 4/5
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Southampton vs Sheffield Wednesday @ 8/11
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Bolton Wanderers vs Cheltenham Town @ 8/11
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Oldham Athletic vs Hendon @ 4/7
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Radcliffe Football Club vs Barnet @ 8/13
- Back Over 2.5 Goals in Swindon Supermarine vs Walton & Hersham @ 4/9
- Overall Odds - 18.69/1
Leg 1 - Cardiff City vs Leeds United @ 4/5
The first leg this Saturday comes from Wales in what should be one of the better games of the day. Cardiff vs Leeds has great history and it should be a fiercely contested match.
In recent times, this has very much been a good play for Over 2.5 backers as six of the past seven meetings between these two sides have seen at least three goals scored. In fact, in all of those winners, Over 3.5 would also have been a successful bet.
Neither side have been outstanding for this statistic so far this campaign, with the home side sitting at 50% with the visitors slightly better at 54%. However, the history of games between these two sides is enough for me to see this as a play.
Leg 2 - Southampton vs Sheffield Wednesday @ 8/11
Last week in this very column I lamented the good form of that lot from the other end of the M27 but did concede that it did mean they were starting to become a pretty solid play for this particular accumulator.
I won’t rehash my Pompey-centric comments but it is fair to say that Russell Martin's side are certainly one of the most improved in the EFL Championship this campaign. Over 2.5 has been a winner in their past four games at St Mary’s and they’ve scored four goals themselves in three of those matches.
On Saturday they face relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday and I like their chances of hitting the required mark themselves, without a single bit of help on the goal-scoring front from the Owls.
Leg 3 - Bolton Wanderers vs Cheltenham Town @ 8/11
Bolton supporters could well be making their way out of the Toughsheet Stadium and through the traffic at Middlebrook on Saturday evening as the side sitting on top of the EFL League 1 table. The Lilywhites are two-points behind Pompey but with the league-leaders having a bit of a swoon, they could easily drop points and that would open the door for Ian Evatt’s side.
I have played Bolton several times in Over 2.5/BTTS columns this season, with an albeit mixed record. They seem to score in bunches. On 11 occasions so far this campaign, they’ve found the back of the net three times, so hit the number without any help from their opposition.
I actually watched Cheltenham Town last Saturday and saw them beat Portsmouth 2-1. It was a game where if Pompey had any quality in the final third, they would have romped home but poor decisions and woeful finishing saw them pass-up numerous opportunities. Bolton have that quality up top to take the Robins apart and score a hatful.
Leg 4 - Oldham Athletic vs Hendon @ 4/7
The first of two FA Trophy matches in this column comes from Boundary Park, where National League play-off contenders Oldham Athletic welcome in a side from two tiers below in Hendon of the Southern South Premier Division.
This is probably the biggest mismatch on paper from this round and all logic points to a pretty hefty win for the home side, although in the previous round, they played out a thoroughly entertaining 3-3 draw with Mickleover Sports in a game I put in the Over 2.5 column that week.
They’ve been part of matches that have hit the required number six times from their past eight across league and cup. As for Hendon, Lee Allinson’s men have been pretty middle-of-the-road for hitting the Over 2.5 mark, having done so in 64% of their games. That does however come with the caveat that 77% of their games on the road have resulted in this bet being a winner.
I like goals here. Plenty of them
Leg 5 - Radcliffe Football Club vs Barnet @ 8/13
A third game on the spin from Greater Manchester and one of the clubs who are starting to become a permanent fixture in this very column.
Radcliffe are sitting top of the Northern League and have found the back of the net on no fewer than 64 occasions from 23 matches. That equates to averaging 2.78 goals-per-game themselves, without even adding the 32 conceded. The management duo of Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson have overseen eight-straight games where the Over 2.5 has hit.
They face high-flying Barnet of the National League in the FA Trophy on Saturday and the visitors are also a side that likes to score plenty. 57 in 28 games isn’t up at Radcliffe’s numbers but it is still over two-per-game and when you throw in the 40 they’ve let in, their games are averaging 3.46 goals.
This is one of those matches that if you are in the area and fancy taking in a match, you could do an awful lot worse than to make the trip to Stainton Park. Both sides are very good going forward and the home side will certainly be going all-out to get a big-scalp.
Leg 6 - Swindon Supermarine vs Walton & Hersham @ 4/9
The newest team that I look for when Betfred adds the games from the seventh-tier on a Thursday morning is Swindon Supermarine. In 24 games played, those who’ve watched every single minute of those matches would’ve been witness to 103 goals. 43 for and 60 against. That is a whopping 4.29 goals-per-game average. Hence why I’m starting to play them religiously.
Over 2.5 has been a winner in eight-straight with results of 3-2, 2-3, 1-2, 1-2, 3-1, 4-1, 4-1 and 3-4 going back to the final weekend of November.
Walton & Hersham aren’t as good for this bet but it has still been a winner in ten of their past 12. Swindon Supermarine though are going to be a play each and every week until this streak ends because the goal numbers in their matches is just insane.
