Ajax vs Brighton Prediction: New look Ajax can beat Seagulls

Brighton’s Europa League adventure continues with a trip to one of Europe’s most historic clubs, Ajax. Roberto de Zerbi will be hoping to get back to winning ways here, as the bottom two teams in Group B meet. Below we have previewed the big game, and given a couple of selections for you to consider ahead of kick-off.
Team News
Ajax goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli is out with a shoulder injury, as is fellow shot-stopper Jay Gorter. That means German Diant Ramaj is set to keep his place in goal for the Dutch side. Elsewhere, 21-year-old midfielder Sivert Mannsverk has a foot injury and young striker Amourricho van Axel Dongen is also out.
Brighton are going to be without both Solly March and Julio Enciso for this one. Meanwhile, it is thought that forward Danny Welbeck will also miss this trip having been absent since getting injured at Manchester City last month.
Match Odds
Ajax are the outsiders for this match, and priced at 16/5 to take the win. Meanwhile, Premier League outfit Brighton are 8/11, while a draw is also 16/5. BTTS is available at 4/9, while over 2.5 goals is also 4/9.
Over 3.5 goals @ 11/10
Ajax have finally improved this season, having sacked Maurice Steijn and replaced him with John van't Schip. It’s a move that has seen them win back-to-back matches, and climb off the bottom of the Eredivisie table.
They lost 2-0 to Brighton in the reverse fixture, but having scored six goals in their last two matches, I’m expecting this one to be a goal-fest. Chuba Akpom has finally found some form under the new manager and we know how good he is in front of goal, as he won the Championship Golden Boot last season with Middlesbrough.
He’s scored three in the last two games, and up against an expansive Brighton side, should enjoy plenty of chances here. Ajax can score goals, and so can Brighton. The 11/10 on offer for over 3.5 goals is well worth considering.
Ajax to win and BTTS @ 5/1
We are expecting goals in this one, and can find a huge price of 5/1 with this pick. Ajax are a different beast to the one that lost at the Amex a couple of weeks ago. With their new found confidence and attacking incision, I’m surprised they are as long as 16/5 to win this game outright.
Sure they face a tough Brighton side, but the Seagulls have only won one of their last eight games in all competitions - and that came against Ajax. They’ve been out of form in the league, and now have to go to Amsterdam to try and get three points.
I can’t see it happening, but I do think they will find the net. 5/1 on a home win, with BTTS is an excellent price in my eyes.
