Polytrack all-weather action from Chelmsford on Thursday, October 5th – and we’ve the small matter of NINE races (16.25 – 20.30).
Reasonable numbers, runners-wise, and some standout jocks are taking part.
16.25 – Puella Law @ 5/2
An opening fillies’ novice over 7f, and some good yards look to have live chances. The one I like is Puella Law, a juvenile trained by John Quinn in North Yorkshire.
The fact that she’s being shipped down to Essex to perform is encouraging in itself, and her one run to date was equally positive. Despite missing the start she finished a creditable second at Beverley over half a furlong more, keeping on resolutely.
Anything remotely similar will surely see her right in the thick of the action here, and can reward connections for making the long trip south.
18.00 – Rhythmic Acclaim @ 7/1
The selection was a beaten-fav at Yarmouth last time but was a close-up third over 6f in a Class 5. The Acclamation filly steps up to 7f and drops into a Class 6 on Thursday and frequent pilot Adam Farragher is again on board.
She’d tried Chelmsford before and run reasonably, albeit in a slightly higher grade than this one. That decent Yarmouth effort was off a mark of 59 and she’s off 58 here – every little helps.
We’ve got a filly in decent form, a 3-yr-old floating around what I hope can be a workable, winning mark, at a realistic price. Plenty to like – fingers crossed.
