The Betfred World Matchplay is wide open and we will have a new winner crowned on Sunday evening. We’ve looked at the final two quarter finals on Friday and picked out our best bets for the evening, with a boosted double from 7/2 to 4/1!

Betfred World Matchplay Quarter Finals Tips

  • Searle Most 180’s – 5/6
  • Damon Heta to win – 6/4

Boosted Double 7/2 4/1

Searle Most 180’s – 5/6

First up over a best of 31 legs format is Ryan Searle (13/10) against Jonny Clayton (8/13) for a place in the semi finals.

Searle was the player of the first round with a 105+ average and though he found it tougher work against Peter Wright, he did eventually progress.

‘The Ferret’ stretched his legs to dispose of the Matchplay specialist Dimitri van den Bergh in the second round and this is going to be a really tough battle.

I didn’t fancy picking the winner in this one but I like the fairly safe bet of ‘Heavy Metal’ to have the most 180’s.

Searle leads 10-7 over Clayton for maximum’s in the tournament so far and I expect him to stretch that further by the end of the night.

Damon Heta to win – 6/4

I’m backing against the bookie favourite in the second game of the night.

Damon Heta has played the apt role of pantomime villain at the famous Winter Gardens this week, by channeling some hilarious Ashes sketches on his walk on.

First he mimicked the run out of Jonny Bairstow, before turning up with a Baggy Green and shiny dukes ball and bowling a leggy into the audience.

This fun and games has helped to settle ‘The Heat’ into his game and he absolutely demolished a very lacklustre Brendon Dolan in the second round.

Next up, he faces the new tournament favourite, Luke Humphries (8/15), who at number six is the highest ranked seed left in the tournament.

‘Cool Hand’ was involved in an Empress Ballroom classic on Wednesday night, eventually coming through in a tie break against the enigmatic Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Humphries wasn’t at his briliant best and was visibly nervous at times, something I think Heta can take advantage of.

The Aussie seems to revel in the crowd participation and I think he will be singing ‘ Same old Aussies, always winning!’ by the end of the night.

The two selections come in at around 7/2 but I’ve twisted the traders arm’s and they’ve agreed to boost the double out to a whopping 4/1.

Enjoy the darts and good luck!
