UFC 303 takes place this Saturday, June 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. TNT Sports 1 will televise all the action. I have predicted the Alex Pereira vs Jiri Prochazka main event and the Brian Ortega vs Diego Lopes co-main event clashes already. Here are my picks for the remaining trio of main card bouts, as well as a listing of the full UFC 303 card.
Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Macy Chiasson
Silva was outpointed in her last fight, a UFC Women’s Bantamweight title shot against Raquel Pennington. Chiasson was submitted by the same opponent back in 2021. She has gone 2-1 since, winning in a Performance of the Night showing against Pannie Kianzad in March 2024.
Fight Odds: Silva 10/11, Chiasson 10/11
Prediction: Silva will be looking to rebound strongly from her title disappointment. That can drive her on to a victory in this evenly-matched battle. I'm picking Silva at 10/11.
Anthony Smith vs. Roman Dolidze
57-fight veteran Smith is one of MMA’s great survivors. A former title challenger, taking Jon Jones the distance in 2019, Lionheart has beaten some of the greatest of all-time. Rashad Evans, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Alexander Gustafsson are just three of the legends on his resume.
Dolidze is the same age as Smith at 35, but has a fraction of the fights at 15. Losses to Marvin Vettori and Nassourdine Imavov in his last two fights have damaged his early promise. A cynic might suggest Smith has been sought in order to give him a big name scalp who is possibly on the wane.
Fight Odds: Smith 11/10, Dolidze 8/11
Prediction: Talk of Smith’s demise has been greatly exaggerated. He might have lost three of his last five, but he has been matched tough. Wins over Ryan Spann and Vitor Petrino during that run showed what he has left. I’m picking Smith here. I'm going for Smith at 11/10
Ian Machado Garry vs. Michael Page
Ireland’s unbeaten Garry continues to prove that he really just might be ‘The Future’. But if we’re delving into the realms of nominative determinism, where does that leave his opponent ‘MVP’?
Page gained something of a reputation as a human highlight-reel during a successful Bellator career. It has been so-far, so-good in the UFC for ‘Venom’ as he won his debut against Kevin Holland at UFC 299.
Garry has kept busy, racking up three wins last year and one already in 2024. Getting fight number-two out of the way by June indicates that he might be shooting for an even more active year this time.
Fight Odds: Garry 4/6, Page 6/5
Prediction: This is a really exciting undercard match-up between two fighters looking to make big waves in the company. I’m edging towards the 4/6 shot on Garry but it’ll be some fight either way.
