L15 Punchestown

Another marvellous afternoon of racing on Saturday, May 4. We're maintaining our theme this week in terms of Lucky 15 tips, concentrating on the Punchestown Festival.

We've had winners, and hope there's a little more joy to be had today before the curtain falls on what's been a fantastic celebration.

Lucky 15 Tips Saturday

Punchestown

  • 16:15 - Cruz Control @ 9/2
  • 16:50 - Kargese @ 13/8
  • 17:25 - Olympic Man @ 11/2
  • 18:00 - Attaho @ 9/2

16:15 - Cruz Control @ 9/2

It was Penelope Cruz's birthday last week. If you require a more scientific reason for taking an interest in the horse, the UK-trained star is on a hat-trick, in the form of his life, and tends to make all - not a bad tactic on this drying ground.

16:50 - Kargese @ 13/8

Came there with every chance at Chelters in the Triumph, and bumped into Sir Gino at Aintree. Compensation awaits, in slightly calmer waters. The Mullins/Townend factor is hardly a hindrance either.

17:25 - Olympic Man @ 11/2

Just pipped in a Listed Fairyhouse affair 35 days ago, and the naughty old handicapper has popped him up 6lb as a consequence. Mullins/Townend surely haven't stopped winning just yet this week? Soon we'll find out ...

18:00 - Attaho @ 9/2

One promising PTP spin in February only - and will be ridden by a gentleman bearing a name synonymous with fame and glory for all time. Pat Taaffe is the grandson of the legend who rode Arkle back in the day - by near-universal acclaim the greatest NH racehorse who ever looked through a bridle.

He was of course also called Pat Taaffe, and the young fella is intent on emulating his famous grandpa. Today could be a stepping-stone on the way to making his own mark in the game.

I hope you've had a grand Punchestown. We've certainly had our share of winners, just not enough strung together on the same day! It's been a blast, and I hope you've had some luck.

Take care, as always.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £300 for your total £7.50 stake.

Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.
