L15 Punchestown

Friday, May 3 - and Day Four of the Punchestown NH Festival.

It's where we've been all week for our L15 tips, and we'll maintain the theme entering the weekend. We've had winners, but not in the numbers we'd have liked. E/W advices here and there have done us proud too, so fingers crossed for some further inspiration. Action starts at 15:40.

Lucky 15 tips Friday

Punchestown

  • 16:15 - Perceval Legallois @ 9/2
  • 16:50 - Brides Hill @ 11/8
  • 17:25 - Famous Clermont @ 5/1
  • 19:05 - Anotherway @ 2/1

16:15 - Perceval Legallois @ 9/2

The green-and-gold silks of JP McManus, Gavin Cromwell trains, and Mark Walsh is doing the steering. Perceval Legallois is a seven-year-old gelding looking for compensation after appearing unfortunate last time at Leopardstown in February (Grade 3).

He held every chance when tipping up at the last at a similar trip to this, and the winner Heart Wood ran a belter in the Mildmay Novices' at Aintree recently.

He was claimer-ridden last time and gets JP's man in Ireland Walsh this time around. With luck and a fair shake he's got every chance of bagging this Listed prize for me.

16:50 - Brides Hill @ 11/8

A mares' chase, with three dominating the market looking at the early shows. Brides Hill took a nice prize home to Ireland from Huntingdon when last seen in January, and the drying ground will in my view be in her favour as she's both won on it, and gone well, too.

She's a classy mare, and arguably has another of similar quality to beat in Allegorie De Vassy (Mullins/Townend/Ricci). 'Brides' ran well here as a novice hurdler, and at seven there should still be plenty of time for improvement.

Sean Flanagan rides for that man Gavin Cromwell, who I'm hoping is going to have a red-letter afternoon.

17:25 - Famous Clermont @ 5/1

Time for the hunter chasers to feature, and I'm deserting Its On The Line very reluctantly. Derek O'Connor rides the seven-year-old Presenting gelding brilliantly, but he's invariably campaigned on soft or worse.

It will hardly be rattling fast but the track does seem to be drying, and pace appears to be holding. Not too many have come from the gods to swoop, and I wonder if this will hamper Its On The Line's chances.

Famous Clermont is an experienced nine-year-old, is Dorset-trained, and has some tasty triumphs on his CV including Aintree (Foxhunters) and Haydock. A value shout to upset the current Aintree Foxhunters king.

19:05 - Anotherway @ 2/1

Now for a five-year-old novice hurdler from the irresistible Mullins production line, in the famous double green livery (Souede/Munir). Paul Townend, who hasn't had it all his own way this week by any means, takes the mount.

Won his maiden here before falling two out when every chance at Fairyhouse in March. The winner, another Mullins inmate, went for a Listed race last night and Anotherway represents the prospect of any amount of potential improvement.

His sire Anodin was a brother to Goldikova, and she could go a bit! Lovely race that's sure to be very informative going forward.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £306 for your total £7.50 stake.

Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.
