Wolves vs Bournemouth

Wolverhampton Wanderers face AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League at Molineux on Wednesday evening (19:45), looking for their first league win in over a month. The Old Gold have seen their squad decimated by injuries, which has provided a tough end to the season for boss Gary O'Neil.

As for Bournemouth, after looking like they were finding form again with three wins on the bounce recently, they have since failed to win in their latest three encounters. Neither side heads into this one in the best of form which could suggest a cagey contest is on the cards. Below I have detailed my Wolves vs Bournemouth predictions, along with team news and match odds.

Wolves vs Bournemouth Betting Tips

  • Draw @ 12/5
  • Dominic Solanke to score anytime @ 5/4

Match Odds

Wolves are 6/4 to get back to winning ways on Wednesday, implying a 40% chance of victory. Bournemouth are valued at 7/5, or a 41.7% chance of taking the three points in the West Midlands. The draw can be backed at the price of 12/5 (29.4%).

Both teams to score is valued at 1/2 and it has landed in 67% (22/33) of Wolves' matches this term, as well as in 64% (21/33) of Bournemouth's fixtures. Over 2.5 goals is on offer at 8/13.

Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke has scored 18 goals in the league this season and is valued at 4/1 to open proceedings at Molineux.

Team News

Wolves' current injury crisis has them missing Craig Dawson, Pedro Neto, Matheus Cunha, Nelson Semedo and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde. O'Neil was forced to name a 15-year-old, Wes Okoduwa, on the bench in Saturday's defeat to Arsenal.

Bournemouth have a few issues themselves as Luis Sinisterra has been ruled out for the rest of the season, while Tyler Adams, Ryan Fredericks and Marcus Tavernier are also in the treatment room.

Draw @ 12/5

As we enter the business end of the season, both these teams will be eyeing up a top-10 finish but Wolves' personnel issues could be a hindrance and what's most likely to let Bournemouth down is their inconsistency.

That is why I fancy this contest to be a draw. Wolves have drawn seven times this campaign while the Cherries have been involved in nine stalemates. The visitors have more of their key men available which does boost their chances of victory here, but Wolves gave a respectable showing of themselves against Arsenal last time out, which makes me think they can get a result on Wednesday.

Molineux has been a tough place to go for teams this year and I'm expecting no different for Bournemouth's visit.

Draw at 12/5

Dominic Solanke to score anytime @ 5/4

The Premier League Golden Boot race this season has been something to behold and Bournemouth striker Solanke is in a great position to take this year's award. His 18 goals are only bettered by three players, Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer (both 20), and Ollie Watkins (19).

With five games left to play, the Englishman will be backing himself to score a few more to give Norway superstar Haaland a run for his money as he aims to win his second Golden Boot in as many years.

Solanke's game has reached a new height this campaign and you now start to hear his name muttered in conversations surrounding Gareth Southgate's England squad. Of course he faces tough competition with the likes of Watkins and Ivan Toney to join Harry Kane at this summer's Euros, but if he continues his goalscoring form in the final weeks, he will give the England boss plenty to think about.

That is why I'm backing him to score at Molineux. He's coming up against a depleted Wolves side that are missing key figures in defence, notably Dawson. Solanke will be relishing this opportunity to get his tally up to catch up with those ahead of him in the Golden Boot race.
