Hopes are high for Uruguay in the United States with only Argentina and Brazil ahead of La Celeste in the Copa America outright betting.

The first task in front of Marcelo Bielsa's men is to overcome Panama in Miami and it’s a job that Uruguay should have no issue completing. Below you can find my Uruguay vs Panama prediction.

Uruguay vs Panama Tips

  • Uruguay and over 2.5 goals @ 11/5
  • Darwin Nunez to score first @ 11/4

Uruguay vs Panama Odds

Uruguay are massive 1/4 favourites to take all three points in Miami, while Panama are huge long shots at 9/1 and the draw is available at 4/1.

A 2-1 victory for La Celeste is 15/2, while they are priced at 10/1 to secure a 3-1 win.

Team News

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez looks set to lead the Uruguay forward line, with veteran striker Luis Saurez likely to have to settle for a place on the bench.

Panamanian captain Anibal Godoy was ruled out of the tournament after picking up an injury against Paraguay last week and that leaves a big gap to be filled in one of the defensive midfield roles.

Uruguay and over 2.5 goals @ 11/5

Uruguay are one of the most interesting teams at the Copa America, with Federico Valverde, Nunez, Rodrigo Bentancur and Jose Gimenez all excellent performers. La Celeste have a squad with the talent to go deep in the States and they also have one of football’s great thinkers in the dugout in the shape of manager Bielsa.

The Argentine has been in charge of Uruguay for just over 12 months and the former Leeds gaffer has made a pretty big impact.

La Celeste have lost only one of their opening six 2026 World Cup qualifiers, beating Brazil and Argentina in the process, and typically of a Bielsa-coached side, Los Charruas have scored a whopping 13 goals in the princess.

Uruguay warmed up for the tilt at a record 16th Copa America title with a 4-0 hammering of Mexico and a high-scoring La Celeste success looks likely in Miami.

Panama have been performing well against weak teams in the CONCACAF Nations League and World Cup qualifiers, but a clash with Bielsa’s Uruguay is an altogether more difficult task and the game could get away from Los Canaleros.

Copa America Odds

Darwin Nunez to score first @ 11/4

Liverpool fans will have hoped for more from Nunez this season, but the 24-year-old scored 11 Premier League goals for the Reds and that is far from a poor return.

Against a lower level of opposition on the international stage, Nunez has proved prolific.

The Liverpool forward has hit the net eight times in his last seven appearances for Uruguay and the 24-year-old looks good to be good value to open the scoring in Miami.
