Today’s Live Football on TV: What to watch on Monday 1 July 2024
Today's live football on TV sees two more Euro 2024 round of 16 matches take place. Neighbours France and Belgium lock horns in Dusseldorf, while Portugal and Slovenia meet in Frankfurt. Les Bleus have not looked like the frightening outfit they have been on the international stage over the past eight years, so the Red Devils will be sensing an opportunity.
From what we've seen at the knockout stage so far, things haven't been particularly easy for some of the big guns, so Portugal had better be wary of Slovenia.

France headed into the tournament as one of the favourites. They were Euro 2016 finalists when they were the host nation and this was followed by them winning the World Cup two years later. They did suffer a surprising early exit at Euro 2020 at the round of 16 before reaching the World Cup final again in 2022.
So far, they have not looked like the powerhouse we have come to know in recent years after some underwhelming performances in the group stage. They managed to go undefeated but they endured two draws, one of them was goalless, and they only scored twice across the three matches.
They were left to pay and settle for second spot in Group D as the impressive Austria deservedly progressed as the winners. Didier Deschamps has never been one to stray too far away from his vision or core players, but they could be in need of fresh ideas against Belgium.
We are yet to see the quality we know Les Bleus possess and Belgium will be sensing an opportunity, even though they've not been pulling up any trees themselves. On paper, this should be a fascinating game of football.
From what we've seen from them both so far, we are expecting a cagey affair, in which either of these can progress if they show a fraction of what they are capable of.

Portugal have looked better than the two teams we have already talked about but they were beaten by Georgia in their final group match, which secured the Crusaders a place in the last 16.
Roberto Martinez's side has a lot of quality but they are yet to face a worthy test in the form of one of the other higher-ranked nations. They may have rotated against Georgia but the defeat still came as a shock. The players out on the pitch had more than enough quality to go and get the win, yet they couldn't handle Georgia's intensity.
This is something they are most likely to expect against Slovenia, who too have worked extremely hard to progress to the knockout stage. They possess two notable stars in striker Benjamin Sesko and goalkeeper Jan Oblak. They frustrated all three of their Group C opponents, including England and Denmark as they posted thre draws.
Portugal will be a much bigger challenge because they will look to break down their stern defence, but after the Georgia result, Slovenia will think they that they have a chance if they can execute a similar game plan.
