Slovenia take on Denmark in Group C of Euro 2024 on Sunday (17:00, ITV), hoping to cause a shock and win their first ever match at a European Championships. Their only other appearance came in 2000, when they creditably held Norway and Yugoslavia to draws, while they were also narrowly beaten by a Spain side with Pep Guardiola in midfield, and Raul up front.

Now this new generation are hoping to make memories of their own, as they take on Euro 2020 semi-finalists Denmark in their opening game in Stuttgart. Below you can find my Slovenia vs Denmark Bet Builder Tips.

Slovenia vs Denmark Odds

Denmark to win

Now I think this may be a more open game than many expect, with plenty of goals, but we will get onto that shortly. I think a sensible place to start is backing Denmark to win. The Danes have a wonderfully talented squad, and they have also lost just once in their last 11 matches, heading into Euro 2024.

With Rasmus Hojlund, Christian Eriksen and Jonas Wind, they should be able to create and score plenty of goals during this group stage. They’ve also got three big centre-backs who should be useful from set pieces and ultimately, should get off to a winning start here.

Slovenia had a notable 2-0 win over Portugal recently and could spring a surprise, although they have also drawn with Bulgaria and Malta in their last four games. Backing Denmark to win is the sensible selection, but let’s make this bet builder a little more spicy...

Euro 2024 Odds

Rasmus Hojlund to score 2+

I think this will be a brilliant attacking game of football, and we have two elite level strikers on the pitch, one on each side. Hojlund ended the season by winning the FA Cup with Manchester United, while he also scored in each of their last two league matches. For Denmark, he has already proven himself to be a reliable goalscorer despite his young age, having hit seven goals in 14 appearances for his country.

He’s yet to score in four international games in 2024, but should relish this big opportunity against a leaky Slovenian defence. They conceded twice against Malta, and previously lost 2-1, and drew 1-1 with Denmark in qualifying. Hojlund scored in one of those matches and both games ended with goals at both ends, and I think we will see exactly the same thing here.

Benjamin Sesko to score

Slovenia also have a highly-rated striker on their books, in the form of Benjamin Sesko. The RB Leipzig striker has just signed a new and improved contract with his club amid huge transfer speculation this summer. The 21-year-old scored 18 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions, and for his nation he has already got an impressive record of 11 goals in 29 games. He should be able to find the net here.
