Sevilla vs Mallorca Prediction: Hosts to kick on with pressure off

Sevilla vs Mallorca

Back-to-back La Liga victories have seen Sevilla claw their way from relegation danger, and although not mathematically safe, it would take a huge collapse for them to fall back into trouble and Monday's clash with Mallorca represents a great chance to move further up the standings.

Mallorca, though, remain in grave danger and their inability to score goals is costing them dear. The Copa del Rey runners-up are six points clear of the relegation zone, but can ill-afford any slip-ups with seven games remaining. Avoiding defeat will be their aim and a cagey contest can be expected on Monday evening (KO, 20:00). Read on for my Sevilla vs Mallorca predictions and all the latest team news.

Sevilla vs Mallorca Betting Tips

  • Sevilla to win & under 2.5 goals @ 23/10
  • First goalscorer - Youssef En-Nesyri @ 7/2

Team News

Kike Salas misses out for the home side through suspension, but Sevilla welcome back Marcos Acuna following his one-match ban. Djibril Sow will miss the remainder of the campaign with a foot injury.

Mallorca boss Javier Aguirre is in the fortunate position of having a full squad to choose from.

Match Odds

Mallorca beat Sevilla 1-0 earlier in the campaign, and they are 100/30 to complete a league double on Monday evening, giving them an implied win probability of 23.1%.

A home win is 19/20, or a 51.3% chance, while the draw is an 11/5 shot.

Sevilla have won their last two matches without conceding, and they are 7/4 to win to nil in this contest, while one or both teams to fail to score is 8/13.

Sevilla to win & under 2.5 goals @ 23/10

Sevilla have steadied the ship following their slump around the turn of the year, and they are looking up La Liga as opposed to down following two straight wins.

Those victories over Getafe (1-0) and Las Palmas (2-0) were tight affairs, though, and another low-scoring triumph looks the best bet at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Monday evening.

Mallorca are perilously close to the relegation zone, so they will head to Seville with the aim of not losing with seven games remaining. A point would do them nicely with a six-point buffer to 18th-placed Cadiz, and wins have proved difficult to come by for the Islanders anyway.

Javier Aguirre's side have won just three of their last 13 matches in all competitions and the goals have dried up too.

Mallorca have fired blanks in three of their last five outings, and they haven't scored more than twice in a match since a 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano in early February.

This fixture is notoriously tight - the last seven meetings have all featured two goals or fewer - while each of Mallorca's last eight matches has seen no more than two goals scored.

Mallorca haven't scored at this venue in their last three visits, and you have to go back to 2013 to when they did last net on Sevilla soil, so a low-scoring home win looks the best bet on Monday evening.

First goalscorer - Youssef En-Nesyri @ 7/2

Mallorca may be struggling for goals, but Sevilla's Moroccan forward, Youssef En-Nesyri, looks to be back on the goal trail.

The 26-year-old has bagged four goals in his last five outings for Sevilla and has scored 16 in all competitions this season - opening the scoring in three of the last five fixtures he has started for his club side.

He was on the mark last time out against Las Palmas, while he bagged a brace in the 3-2 win over Sociedad last month. The 7/2 he scores first on Monday looks a solid wager.
