Osasuna vs Villarreal Prediction: Red-hot Sorloth to end season in style

Four goals from Alexander Sorloth inspired a stunning comeback for Villarreal against Real Madrid last Sunday, but the Norwegian striker's heroics proved to be in vain as a 4-4 draw wasn't enough for the Yellow Submarine to keep pace with seventh-placed Real Betis, who clinched the Europa Conference League spot.

Villarreal's final La Liga match of the season takes place at the Estadio El Sadar in Pamplona on Saturday afternoon (KO, 13:00), with Osasuna acting as hosts. Read below for my Osasuna vs Villarreal prediction, as the visitors look to do the double over their opponents.

Osasuna vs Villarreal Betting Tips

  • Alexander Sorloth to score two or more goals @ 6/1
  • Draw or Villarreal & both teams to score @ 21/20

Osasuna ended a six-game winless run in style last week, beating Atletico Madrid 4-1 in their own backyard, and that result lifted them up to 11th.

Los Rojillos can still finish in the top 10, but they must better Alaves' result to do so, while they can still be overtaken by Getafe and Sevilla and sink to as low as 13th.

There are no such worries for Villarreal, who are rooted to eighth, four points clear of Valencia but four behind Betis. It's been a good end to the season for Marcelino's side, who have won four of their last six games, but the damage was done to their European hopes in the first part of the season.

November's reverse fixture at the Estadio de la Ceramica saw 36-year-old Jose Luis Morales roll back the years to net a hat-trick for the Yellow Submarine, with Alejandro Catena scoring a consolation for Osasuna.

Team News

Kike Barja and David Garcia have each missed Osasuna's last five matches - 10 in the former's case - and remain sidelined for Saturday, and the duo will be joined by Ruben Garcia, who was forced off in the first half against Atletico due to a muscle injury.

Villarreal are missing Juan Foyth, Alfonso Pedraza and Denis Suarez, while it is tough and go whether Yeremy Pino makes his long-awaited return from injury.

Alex Baena and Kiko Fermenia missed last week's draw with Real Madrid through suspension, but the duo are free to return this weekend.

Osasuna are 13/8 to triumph at home for the first time since March 4, giving them an implied win probability of 38.1%, while the visitors are 6/5, or a 45.5% chance.

The draw can be backed at 13/5, both teams to score at 4/9, and over 2.5 goals at 1/2.

Alexander Sorloth to score two or more goals @ 6/1

Four goals last Sunday saw Sorloth move from joint-second in the La Liga scorer charts, alongside Jude Bellingham, to top, two goals above Artem Dobvyk, the previous frontrunner for the Pichichi Trophy.

Girona are at home against already-relegated Granada on Friday evening, so Dobvyk will be hoping to get himself on the scoresheet multiple times in order to climb back above Sorloth.

Even a hat-trick may not be enough for the Ukrainian to win the trophy, however, as I believe Sorloth can net a couple of his own the following day.

It was a slow start to the season for the Norwegian, but he has come alive since the start of the year, scoring 17 of his 23 league goals in 2024, including eight in his last five.

Those eight goals all arrived in three matches, with braces against Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla before last week's masterclass against Real Madrid.

He should be enthused by the opposition on Saturday, as Osasuna have shipped 55 goals in La Liga this term - only Almeria (74), Granada (72) and Villarreal (64) have conceded more.

Alexander Sorloth to score two or more goals in Osasuna vs Villarreal at 6-1

Draw or Villarreal & both teams to score @ 21/20

A 4-1 win at the Wanda Metropolitano last Sunday will have given Osasuna an awful lot of confidence heading into this fixture, and it was badly needed after such an awful run of form.

In truth, Osasuna were 'on the beach' for weeks with safety secured and Europe out of reach, but last week was a reminder that they can still turn it on when required.

They haven't tasted victory at home for over two months now though, losing against Real Madrid, Valencia and Betis before being held to a 1-1 draw by Mallorca last time out at El Sadar.

Given Villarreal's awful defensive record, and the fact that they put four past Atletico recently, it's difficult to see Osasuna not scoring on Saturday, but I don't think that will be enough for them to end their season with a win.

Villarreal are in great form and have lost just one of their last eight on their travels in La Liga, and should be able to fire a few past Osasuna.

Draw or Villarreal vs Osasuna & both teams to score at 21-20
