la liga trophy spain

Girona host already-relegated Granada in their final La Liga clash of the season on Friday night (20:00) at Montilivi. Having secured Champions League football for the first time in their history, there is sure to be a party atmosphere in this season finale.

Michel and his players will look to end this stunning campaign in style and put on a show for the fans, so don't expect them to treat this game like a dead rubber. Read on for my Girona vs Granada prediction, including match odds and team news.

Girona vs Granada Betting Tips

  • Girona to win to nil @ 11/8
  • Girona to win both halves @ 6/5

Girona vs Granada Odds

The hosts are the overwhelming favourites to win here at 2/11, giving them an implied probability of 84.6%. Granada are 9/1 to collect a rare victory, which gives them a 10% chance. The draw can be backed at 11/2 (15.4%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 8/13 and over 2.5 goals is 1/4.

Girona striker Artem Dovbyk has scored 21 goals in La Liga this term and he is marketed at 11/4 to open the scoring on Friday night, and 8/15 to score anytime.

Team News

Girona suffered no fresh injury concerns in their recent win over Valencia, but they are still having to deal with some absences. John Solis, Joel Roca and Ricard Artero are all sidelined, while Borja Garcia is a doubt to feature.

They will also need to assess Miguel Gutierrez ahead of kick-off after having suffered with a recent knock. There is also hope that Yan Couto can return to the squad after being struck down by illness.

For Granada, they are going to be without Kamil Jozwiak for this one due to a hamstring injury. Ignasi Miquel, Raul Fernandez, Myrto Uzuni and Augusto Batalla are all doubts to feature but they will each be assessed ahead of kick-off. Raul Torrente was unable to complete the 90 minutes against Celta Vigo last time out but his problem is not deemed to be serious.

Girona to win to nil @ 11/8

Girona have been exceptional this year and their story has been one of the key talking points in Europe. They have scored a whopping 78 goals in La Liga this term which has helped them secure a top-three finish.

Against a Granada side devoid of confidence and that has been relegated for some time, I see no issue with the hosts winning this clash to nil. They have done it nine times already and against teams that are stronger than Friday's visitors.

Granada have conceded 72 goals this term and have lost 16 of their last 19 trips on the road in La Liga. This game may have no permutations but Girona have the chance to pass the 80-point mark and Michel and his players will not want to disappoint their supporters in the final game of the season.

Girona to win to nil at 11/8 Girona to win both halves @ 6/5

Following on from that, I think this game should be so comfortable for the hosts that they should be able to win both halves. I'm expecting them to score without reply, so this should be just as easy to land.

Granada's defence is the second-worst in the division and Girona's attack is the second best, so goals shouldn't be hard to come by in this one, especially on home soil.

Star striker Dovbyk has 21 goals to his name and is two shy of Alexander Sorloth of Villarreal in the race for the Pichichi Trophy. He will see this match as an excellent opportunity to catch up the Norwegian and potentially finish the year as the top scorer in the league.

With that in mind, I do fancy Girona to add a few more goals to their tally and they should be able to win both halves of this contest.
