Everton vs Liverpool

The second Merseyside derby of the season takes place at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening (20:00) as Everton host Liverpool in the Premier League. The Toffees picked up a valuable win over relegation rivals Nottingham Forest on Sunday, while the Reds recorded a convincing success over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

With Liverpool gunning for the title and Everton still fighting for survival, there's a lot at stake for both these sides which should certainly add some more spice to this historic rivalry. I have laid out my Everton vs Liverpool predictions below, which also features team news and match odds.

Everton vs Liverpool Betting Tips

  • Liverpool and both teams to score - Yes @ 7/4
  • Over 2.5 Liverpool goals @ 5/4

Match Odds

Everton are 11/2 to beat Liverpool in the league for the first time since February 2021, giving them a 15.4% chance of victory. Liverpool are valued at 4/11, with an implied probability of 73.3%. The draw can be backed at 7/2 (22.2%).

Both teams to score is priced at 4/6, but it has failed to land in the last four league meetings between the two sides. BTTS No is valued at 11/10 and over 2.5 goals is 1/2.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has scored 17 goals in the Premier League this term and he is 9/10 to score anytime on Wednesday, and 3/1 to open the scoring.

Team News

Everton forward Beto was stretchered off with a head injury against Forest and is going to miss the Merseyside derby, as is Dele Alli, Lewis Dobbin and Nathan Patterson. Seamus Coleman will need to be assessed ahead of the game as to whether he is fit enough to make the squad.

For Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is without Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Ben Doak, Conor Bradley and Stefan Bajcetic due to injury.

Salah was dropped to the bench against Fulham but he is expected to return to the starting lineup at Goodison Park.

Liverpool and both teams to score - Yes @ 7/4

After crashing out of the Europa League prematurely, Liverpool bounced back with an impressive 3-1 display at Fulham as they look to get back on course in the title race. They head into this derby clash with confidence as well as the knowledge that they have won four of the last five.

I'm expecting the Reds to grab another win at Goodison Park on Wednesday but I do think Sean Dyche's men will make them work for it. The Toffees have failed to register a goal against their bitter rivals in their last four attempts, but I'm backing them to end this drought given the fact that Liverpool's defence has been prone to errors this season.

This is evidenced by the fact that 70% (23/33) of their games this season has seen BTTS land, so Everton will be sensing an opportunity on home soil. Their confidence has also been raised thanks to their huge six-pointer victory over Forest, which has given them a five-point cushion of the relegation zone. They will want to keep it that way with only a few games remaining.

Liverpool and both teams to score at 7/4 Over 2.5 Liverpool goals @ 5/4

Given Liverpool's options in attack, they should have no issues with finding the back of the net in this Merseyside derby. They will need to be smart, however, as Everton have only conceded 48 goals this term and their total is only bettered by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Reds have regained confidence following the weekend's triumph over Fulham, in which Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ryan Gravenberch scored, with the latter netting his first goal for the club. When you add the prolific Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota into the mix, there is so much firepower at Klopp's disposal.

That is why I fancy the visitors to go out and score a few more goals, particularly as they need to improve their goal difference to try and match Arsenal, as this factor could be huge come the end of term given how tight things are at the top.

Over 2.5 Liverpool goals at 5/4 Betfred are running their famed Double Delight & Hat-trick Heaven offer on this match, meaning that if a player scores first and then nets again, you will be paid at double the odds. If he grabs a hat-trick, you will be paid at treble the odds!
