Football Bet of the Day: Girona to end the season in style

Girona take on already-relegated Granada in their final La Liga clash of the season on Friday (20:00) and the Blanquivermells will want to end their stunning campaign on a high. They will be partaking in the Champions League next term and the excitement of everyone at the club cannot be contained.

Michel and his players will look to end this historic year in style at Montilivi and it is from this fixture that I have picked out my football bet of the day.

Girona have been one of the key talking points in Europe this season, and they probably could've been the main one if Bayer Leverkusen weren't gunning for an invincible treble. What the Spanish club have achieved this year is incredible considering some of the storied clubs they have had to contend with.

As they prepare for one last performance on home soil to bring an end this stunning campaign, they will want to wrap it up in style. It may be a dead rubber because they have European football secured and Granada have been relegated for some time, but Michel and his players are likely going to want to put on a show in front of the fans before they celebrate this year's achievements.

The visitors have been wanting this season to end for some time and they will have nothing to play for here on Friday night, and I'm not even sure if they will be willing to play for pride at this point.

I see this being a straightforward win for Girona as they have the chance to finish the term by passing the 80-point mark, which will just be another indicator of how good they have been in 2023/24.

I have gone for the first leg because as I have already mentioned, Granada just want to head into summer and even if they did turn up for this one, there has been nothing from them all year to suggest they can lay a glove on Girona, especially when Michel's team are at home.

Girona have more than enough quality to blow this downbeat group of players away and I can envisage them winning by at least three goals here.

And that leads nicely into the second leg of the bet builder. I have chosen Artem Dovbyk to score simply because he has been excellent for Girona this term and his goals have been key in helping them finish in the top three.

The Ukrainian has found the back of the net on 21 occasions in La Liga so far, and he still has a shot at finishing the year as the top scorer and secure the coveted Pichichi Trophy. He is two goals shy of Villarreal's Alexander Sorloth, who travels to Osasuna for the final match of the season, and he will sense an opportunity to grab a few more goals to take this particular race down to the wire.

Dovbyk has seven goals in his last eight league appearances, including last time out against Valencia. He is full of confidence and will be looking to do all he can to add the icing on the cake to what has been an already glowing season.
