England take on tournament co-hosts West Indies in their first match of the Super 8 stage at the 2024 T20 World Cup in what should be an exciting contest.

The home team had the smoother path to the second round, winning all four of their group games, while England emerged from a rain-hit group thanks to a superior run-rate to Scotland. Below you can find my West Indies vs England prediction.

West Indies vs England Betting Tips

  • England to win @ 10/11
  • Nicholas Pooran - West Indies Top Run Scorer @ 3/1
  • Adil Rashid - top England Wicket Taker @ 100/30

West Indies vs England Odds

Both teams are priced at 10/11 to win the game, with Buttler 5/2 favourite to top-score for England while Pooran is 3/1 to show the way with the bat for West Indies.

West Indies are 1/2 to hit the most sixes in the match, with England 2/1 and the tie 15/2.

England to win @ 10/11

England did not have the smooth path to the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup that they would have wanted, but they made it through and now have a chance to begin their bid for a semi-final place when they take on co-hosts West Indies.

The teams are joined in Group 2 by tournament surprise package the United States, as well as South Africa, so defeat in this game would not end the chances of either team progressing, but a victory would be a great start to the second stage of the competition.

England's struggles in their group, where an abandoned game against the Scots and defeat to Australia in their first two fixtures left them up against it, can be put behind them now and they have shown in spells that they retain the quality required to challenge for the trophy.

West Indies have home advantage, but played only one of their group matches at the venue for this game, the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia, securing a comfortable win over Afghanistan.

England's only wins have come against minnows Namibia and Oman, but it's too early to write them off given the powerful batting of openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, while Jofra Archer heads a varied bowling attack.

West Indies were involved in a couple of close games against Papua New Guinea and New Zealand in their group and could be vulnerable against the strongest team they have faced so far.

Nicholas Pooran - West Indies Top Run Scorer @ 3/1

Nicholas Pooran has been the star of the show for West Indies as they bid to win a trophy on home soil.

The Trinidad & Tobago batter went close to a century in the final group game against Afghanistan, blasting eight sixes and six fours at the venue for this game before being the victim of a bizarre run-out for 98.

The wicket-keeper is hard to oppose in the market to be West Indies' top runscorer against England in that kind of form and he has scored at least 17 in all four of his tournament innings.

Pooran has registered four scores of 30 or more in his six T20 international matches at this venue and should lead the charge for his team again.

Adil Rashid - top England Wicket Taker @ 100/30

The Gros Islet venue has produced wickets for bowlers of all kinds so far in the tournament, but spinners certainly seem to have a chance of success there and Adil Rashid appeals as a candidate to be England's leading wicket-taker.

The experienced Yorkshireman has been extracting some sharp spin from the Caribbean pitches - so much that he has been called for wides - but he cashed in against Oman with four wickets for 11 and has kept batters guessing.

Afghanistan slow left-armer Noor Ahmad kept the Windies in check with four tidy overs for 20 in their last game at this ground and Rashid is capable of giving them problems too, having captain Buttler opportunities for stumpings.
