Gervonta-Davis

There's a big PPV card taking place across the pond in the early hours of Sunday morning. WBA Lightweight champion Gervonta Davis takes on unbeaten Frank Martin at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The bout will be screened live on Amazon Prime PPV, with ring-walks expected around 04:00 UK time. So, without further ado, here is my Davis vs Martin Prediction...

Davis vs Martin Betting Tips

  • Davis to win via KO/TKO @ 4/7

The odds on this match (see below) suggest this fight should be a total mismatch as one of the best operators in the business struts his stuff again.

Gervonta 'Tank' Davis (29-0-0(27ko)) hasn't fought for over a year, since he KO'd Ryan Garcia in the seventh round at this very venue back in April 2023. He's also since done a 44-day stint in a Baltimore prison, after violating a house arrest order.

He's looking to get his career back on track since his release and first up in his sights is unbeaten American, Frank 'The Ghost' Martin (18-0-0(12ko)) who has certainly talked a good game in fight week and is turning up fully confident of pulling off a massive shock.

The 29-year-old has certainly never fought anyone of Tank's calibre before but an undefeated fighter is always a dangerous one and just how costly is that time out of the ring to Davis' sharpness?

Where and when is the fight taking place?

The fight is taking place at the MGM Garden Arena, Las Vegas on Sunday, June 16 and will be broadcast live and exclusively on Amazon Prime PPV in the UK.

The event is a Premier Boxing Champions promotion, with the undercard expected to start at midnight and the main event ring walk due to take place at around 04:00 UK time.

The defending champion Davis is a huge 1/7 favourite, with the challenger Martin a big 5/1 underdog. The draw is available to back at 16/1, if you fancy this fight to be tighter than the bookmakers expect.

What's been said?

"He's shaking, he's got bad feet movement, he's mediocre.

I'm gonna break him up. "

Gervonta Davis

"June 15, it's going down. I appreciate Tank giving me this opportunity to come whoop his ass!

He ain't been in there with anyone like me, I'm gonna push every button that he got"

Frank Martin

Davis to win via KO/TKO @ 4/7

I'll be honest, before writing this preview I hadn't seen a great deal of Frank Martin's career and fully expected a one-sided beatdown.

However, from watching his recent fights, he looks an awkward southpaw with a slick, classical style and he will surely give Tank some early problems with his range and right hand jab. As a former Golden Gloves champion, he clearly possesses some real talent.

That said, he has fought a succession of nobodies, although did hand Dominican, Michel Rivera and Armenian, Artem Harutyunyan, their first career defeats, so is used to taking a mans 0.

Tank is an entirely different prospect, though and although The Ghost has looked comfortable in the big fight week build up, it will be an entirely different matter when he's stood in the ring of a packed out MGM Grand with the little pitbull in the other corner.

I expect Martin to win some of the early rounds with his sound, 1-2's landing before Davis starts to get on the inside and work his magic. Tank is a beast when he smells blood and when he knows he has his man hurt, he will take Martin out.

It should be fun while it lasts...

Gervonta to win via ko 4-7
