The NFL pays its first visit to South America in the early hours of Saturday morning when the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles lock horns in Brazil at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, live on Sky Sports Main Event.

The Eagles will be desperate to get their season off to a strong start after they lost six of their final seven games of the 2023 campaign, while Green Bay will want to build on a strong finish that saw them lose just two of their final 11 outings. Packers tight end Tucker Kraft has been struggling with a back injury and Green Bay also hope that rookie running-back Marshawn Lloyd will have recovered from his hamstring problem.

The Eagles' only major issue is linebacker Devin White, who will not be making the trip due to a hamstring injury.

Philadelphia are favourites on the money line to come out on top in this one, with 8/11 available for an Eagles win while the Packers are 23/20 to claim an opening success.

The lack of home advantage perhaps makes this match-up a difficult one to assess but those South American fans who have waited so long for their first taste of NFL action should not be disappointed.

It looks like a night where the offences will be on top and the Packers will take confidence from the way they finished last year, even though they fell to San Francisco in the Divisional playoffs.

Led by quarterback Jordan Love, they showed great promise in the closing weeks and they can exploit an Eagles linebacker corps weakened by Devin White’s absence.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia have one of the strongest receiver corps in the league and are also boosted by the free agency acquisition of former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, so there looks a strong chance that there will be plenty of points in the Sao Paulo clash.

Barkley made his big move in free agency over the summer and he not only offers the Eagles a great resource on the ground but is an excellent option for quarterback Jalen Hurts to find in the air if top receivers AJ Brown and Devonta Smith are covered.

The former Giants running back scored 35 rushing and 12 receiving touchdowns in seven seasons in the Big Apple and it would be no surprise if he was able to open his Eagles account on his debut.
