NFL Prop Bets: Division-topping Sunday clashes and a 15/1 treble

One thing you can be sure of in this topsy-turvy NFL season - it absolutely hurtles by with unseemly haste, and is gone before you know it!

It's Week 14 already of the regular season and if you can say with absolute conviction that back in September you'd have predicted that the Pats would be 11-2 heading the AFC East then you're a better man/woman than I, and all that jazz.

The 10-2 Broncos are almost as surprising in the West - meanwhile both the Ravens and the Chiefs are middling along at 6-6. Bizarre; but fascinating. Anyway, here's this week's NFL Prop bet.

More fun bets from the world of 'props' - proposition bets to supplement and provide an alternative to the standard win, handicap and game total wagers that we know so well, and thus enhance our enjoyment of the event.

This week I'm looking at the Highest Scoring Quarter market in three particular match-ups, selected in the main because I believe they are pretty lively-looking encounters where the result could and might well be in plenty of doubt until later in the piece - hopefully resulting in a nice little flurry of late scoring.

It's an angle - not the worst in the world - and if we pop these three possibilities together and get lucky we're on a 15/1 treble. That would be lovely ...

Ravens vs Steelers - Fourth Quarter @ 13/8

Wow - two 6-6 outfits who dispute matters at the head of the AFC North. Both are coming off defeats - and the Steelers could make it a consecutive hat-trick of reverses if they come up short today.

Lots on then, and they're sure to be straining every sinew until the final whistle.

Jags vs Colts - Fourth Quarter @ 6/4

Would you believe it - AFC South rivals this time, disputing the top spot, both on 8-4!

Much of the above is once again true but it's the Jags who come here with Uncle Mo - momentum - on their side (three successive wins). The Colts were enjoying a terrific season and they're far from done yet; but must shake off a two-match loss streak.

Another set to go to the wire in my book.

Packers vs Bears - Fourth Quarter @ 6/4

NFC royalty now, and bitter rivals in the North separated by just fractions at the head of the Division.

The game total is around the 42.5 mark and I'd still be tempted to play the under - but that doesn't mean to say that the scoring can't be at its most prolific in the final 15 minutes or thereabouts.

Both these two are in terrific nick - Chicago have taken their last FIVE on the spin, while for the Pack it's a mere three. It's a great Division this time with the Lions breathing down both their necks at 8-5, so there really is everything to play for as we get nearer to the end of regular season combat.

Let's hope that means lots of ding-dong finishes with late busts of scoring and a few bitten fingernails. Enjoy!
