The Atlanta Falcons will be looking to pick up their first win of the new NFL season when they travel to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the Philadelphia Eagles for Monday Night Football (Tuesday 01:15, live on Channel 5).

The Eagles were 34-29 winners against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil last time out, so they have a chance to move to 2-0 while the Falcons need to respond to the 18-10 defeat to the Steelers from Week 1. Read on for my Falcons vs Eagles prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Falcons vs Eagles Betting Tips

  • Saquon Barkley 75+ rushing yards and to score a touchdown @ 13/10
  • Under 46.5 points @ 10/11

Team News

A.J. Brown did not practice for the Eagles after being a limited participant on Friday as he is dealing with a hamstring injury, while Johnny Wilson was added to the injury report after not practicing, also due to a hamstring injury.

Tyler Steen was also added to the injury report, but the offensive lineman is good to go for Monday night despite an ankle injury.

As for the Falcons, Nate Landman will miss the match-up with Philly due to a calf injury, while Antonio Hamilton is also sidelined with a groin issue. Kaleb McGary has been a limited participant in practice this week but is expected to feature on Monday night.

The Eagles are favourites for Monday night's encounter at 4/11, implying they have a 73.3% chance of moving their season record to 2-0. The Falcons are 11/5 on the moneyline, and are 20/23 to cover the spread, which is currently set at 6.5.

Saquon Barkley 75+ rushing yards and to score a touchdown @ 13/10

It's been a seamless transition for Saquon Barkley after swapping the blue of the New York Giants for the green of Philly during free agency.

Barkley’s ground game complements Philadelphia’s aerial attack and vice versa, and he's emerged as a viable receiving option for Jalen Hurts. Barkley had 109 rushing yards in the victory over the Packers, and also scored two touchdowns.

Najee Harris was able to total 70 rushing yards last week against the Falcons and I think Barkley can surpass that Monday night and go for more than 75 yards rushing, as well as scoring a touchdown anytime.

Under 46.5 points @ 10/11

Philly scored 34 points against the Packers last week, but I'm taking the under on the points total.

My thinking for this is taking into account Atlanta’s inability to move the ball offensively, juxtaposed against what is a top defence, potentially keeping the Eagles’ offensive weapons in check.

There's plenty of hype surrounding Atlanta's new-look offence, but it failed to show up against the Steelers in Week 1, which is why I'm doubting it again here and taking the under.
