Chiefs vs Steelers Predictions: Kansas to edge Christmas cracker

Reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs are on a roll and they won’t want the good times to stop on Christmas Day (18:00, live on Netflix) when they make the trip to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers.

The Steelers are the 6/5 underdogs going into this one at Acrisure Stadium, while the Steelers are 7/10 favourites to claim the victory.

Kansas City are also available at 6/4 in the double result market to be leading at both the half-time and full-time whistles.

Team News

Starting with the hosts, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has not practised due to a knee injury and is a doubt for the hosts.

In more positive news, head coach Mike Tomlin has suggested Justin Fields, DeShon Elliott, Donte Jackson and Larry Ogunjobi all have a chance to feature after recent injuries.

Wide receiver George Pickens has also been sidelined with a hamstring injury but has a "real chance" of playing, according to Tomlin.

As for the Chiefs, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been nursing an ankle sprain but came through the win over the Houston Texans last time out without any setback.

While Mahomes is expected to play in this one, there are doubts regarding defensive tackle Chris Jones and left tackle D.J Humphries have missed practice due to calf and hamstring injuries respectively.

The 14-1 Chiefs are building up a nice head of steam going into their trip to Pennsylvania, having won their last five games against the Panthers, Raiders, Chargers, Browns and most recently the Texans.

After a handful of underwhelming performances from the Chiefs’ offence, they showed more of their real selves in the 27-19 win at home to Houston.

The Steelers have a 5-1 record at home this season, so they will certainly be no pushovers at Acrisure Stadium.

However, after giving up 61 points in their last two games against the Eagles and the Ravens, Pittsburgh’s defence is starting to wobble and the in-form Chiefs look capable of covering the spread here.

Over 42.5 total points @ 10/11

As mentioned, the Chiefs offence found another gear against the Texans, with Mahomes, running back Kareem Hunt and wide receiver Xavier Worthy all scoring touchdowns.

The Steelers defence has been less than watertight in their last two games and going for over 42.5 total points looks to be the way to go here, with Pittsburgh quarterback Russell Wilson also capable of getting after this Chiefs defence.
