Saints @ chiefs

Monday Night Football (Tuesday 01:15, live on Sky Sports NFL) sees the Kansas City Chiefs welcome the New Orleans Saints to Arrowhead Stadium as the hosts bid to continue their perfect start to the new season.

The Saints, meanwhile, have lost their last two after starting the season in fantastic form. Read on for my Chiefs vs Saints prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Chiefs vs Saints Betting Tips

  • New Orleans Saints (+5.5) @ 10/11
  • Kareem Hunt 25+ rushing yards and score a touchdown @ 5/4

Team News

Isiah Pacheco was already on injured reserve for the Chiefs, and now wide receiver Rashee Rice is sidelined for the foreseeable future with a knee injury that he sustained during last weekend’s victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Defensive end Mike Danna was also limited for Thursday and Friday's practices but was listed as a full participant on Saturday, so he could feature here.

As for the Saints, Willie Gay, Taysom Hill, Cesar Ruiz, Shane Lemieux and Payton Turner will all miss this encounter, while Lucas Patrick and Pete Werner are questionable.

The Chiefs are favourites on the moneyline at 2/5, giving them an implied win probability of 71.4%, with the Bills priced up at 2/1 straight up.

The spread is currently set at 5.5, and it's 10/11 for either team to cover.

New Orleans Saints (+5.5) @ 10/11

This feels strange to write as the Chiefs are undefeated, but their performances haven't been as dominating as in previous years.

Isiah Pacheco and Rasheed Rice are both sidelined, meaning that Patrick Mahomes will be missing some of his most crucial offensive weapons. In addition to the Chiefs being depleted, the Saints are formidable opponents. Under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, they lead the league in scoring, racking up 31.8 points per game.

QB Derek Carr finds himself in the top five in the NFL in yards per pass attempt (8.2) and completion percentage (71.3), so I'm taking the visitors to cover.

Kareem Hunt 25+ rushing yards and score a touchdown @ 5/4

I'm expecting Kareem Hunt to step up for the Chiefs on offence in the absence of Pacheco.

Carson Steele had the opportunity the past couple of weeks, but his production was minimal at best, and he lost a fumble early in Week 4 against the Chargers.

Now it is Hunt’s turn after he was recently signed as a free agent - he had 14 carries last Sunday and gained 69 yards - and the Saints' run defence doesn't appear as strong as the numbers suggest.
