The NFL season is moving on and somehow we are already at Week 6. Have we really already watched five episodes of NFL RedZone?

Last week our predictions were much of a muchness with 9-5 and 5-9 being the highs and lows of the team. It is Jonny who is inching clear in the season-long records however, following a very nice 9-5 week both ATS and Straight Up.

It was Neil who took a mirror to that record going 5-9 ATS and only 6-8 Straight Up, who took home the wooden spoon for the week.

As always, all of our predictions are below along with a comment from one of the guys for each of the 15 games this week.

Bye Weeks: Packers & Steelers

*Odds correct as of 8AM, Wednesday 11 October, 2023

NFL Week 6 Predictions & Picks:

Friday – 1:20AM:

Broncos (+10.5) @ Chiefs

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Chiefs
  • Alan: Chiefs
  • Jonny: Chiefs
  • Neil: Chiefs

Money Line: Broncos 4/1 & Chiefs 2/11

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Chiefs
  • Alan: Chiefs
  • Jonny: Chiefs
  • Neil: Chiefs

Comments: Whilst watching the games last Sunday night, several things stood out to me. One of the most stark was just how bad Russell Wilson is these days. The Broncos could move the ball ok between the 20’s but in the Red Zone he just could not do anything. It was sad to see.

10.5 is a big number but I just don’t see Denver scoring more than in the mid-teens and Kansas City should be good for the high 20s at home. I like KC to roll and will Taylor Swift be in the stands? I’m not sure we have odds on that but trust me, it’ll be talked about on the broadcast non-stop! – Neil

Sunday – 14:30:

Ravens (-3.5) @ Titans (in London)

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Ravens
  • Alan: Ravens
  • Jonny: Ravens
  • Neil: Ravens

Money Line: Ravens 1/2 & Titans 13/8

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Ravens
  • Alan: Ravens
  • Jonny: Ravens
  • Neil: Ravens

Comments: NFL-fever continues for another week in London, more specifically at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what could be an interesting matchup between the Ravens and Titans.

Both teams are coming into this one off the back of a loss, but the Titans are interestingly 2-0 at home and 0-3 on the road. They are technically the home team for this game, but of course this game is in London, not Tennessee.

I do think this will be a low-scoring affair, and I thought the Ravens had turned a corner in their Week 4 victory against Cleveland but they were poor last week against the Steelers, blowing multiple opportunities to close out that game.

That being said, I’m siding with Baltimore here as I think they are simply the more talented outfit. – Jonny

Sunday – 18:00:

Commanders (+2.5) @ Falcons

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Falcons
  • Alan: Falcons
  • Jonny: Falcons
  • Neil: Falcons

Money Line: Commanders 6/5 & Falcons 7/10

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Falcons
  • Alan: Falcons
  • Jonny: Falcons
  • Neil: Falcons

Comments: Let’s get this straight. I don’t think either team are any good. I don’t believe in either QB and yet between them, they are 5-5. That staggers me.

The reason I’ve plumped for Atlanta here is they are 3-0 at home and seems to just about do enough in front of their own fans. This is likely to be a low-scoring encounter and I think they cover late but it won’t be a game high on the radar for many – Neil

Vikings (-2.5) @ Bears

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Bears
  • Alan: Bears
  • Jonny: Bears
  • Neil: Bears

Money Line: Bears 6/5 & Vikings 20/29

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Bears
  • Alan: Bears
  • Jonny: Vikings
  • Neil: Bears

Comments: Soldier Field will see two 1-4 sides face off as Chicago host Minnesota in a battle of the NFC North basement clubs.

The Vikings fell short against the Chiefs at home and are following a seriously impressive season, with a seriously depressing one. Not only that but they’ve just lost their star receiver, Justin Jefferson, to injury for at least the next four weeks.

The Bears put on a show against the hapless Commanders and Justin Fields is starting to roll, after two impressive weeks on the spin.

Give me the Bears in a narrow win here, as well as covering the spread. – Adam

Seahawks (+2.5) @ Bengals

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Bengals
  • Alan: Bengals
  • Jonny: Seahawks
  • Neil: Bengals

Money Line: Seahawks 5/4 & Bengals 4/6

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Bengals
  • Alan: Bengals
  • Jonny: Seahawks
  • Neil: Bengals

Comments: The Seahawks are coming off their bye week to face one of the most surprisingly bad and disappointing teams this season, the Cincinnati Bengals. Seattle won three straight heading before their bye, and will look to keep that momentum going here.

I’m not sure what to make of Cincinnati so far, one week they look like Super Bowl contenders, the next they look like they could miss the playoffs altogether. I’m actually surprised they are the favourites for this game, and the Seahawks are my upset of the week. – Jonny

49ers (-5.5) @ Browns

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: 49ers
  • Alan: 49ers
  • Jonny: 49ers
  • Neil: 49ers

Money Line: 49ers 2/5 & Browns 21/10

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: 49ers
  • Alan: 49ers
  • Jonny: 49ers
  • Neil: 49ers

Comments: This is the easiest game on the docket for me. I firmly think San Francisco are the most complete team so far this season. They have a suffocating defense, have the best Running Back in the game, Brock Purdy is supremely efficient under Center and they have receivers who keep getting open.

Cleveland are getting 5.5 and have looked more than solid at home but Deshaun Watson is still questionable and missed practice early in the week. Should he not be good to go then this line likely moves to 8.5 or 9.5 but even if he does play, I’ll take San Fran with a 5.5 point handicap against pretty much anyone, anywhere – Neil

Saints (-1.5) @ Texans

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Saints
  • Alan: Texans
  • Jonny: Texans
  • Neil: Texans

Money Line: Saints 4/5 & Texans 21/20

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Saints
  • Alan: Texans
  • Jonny: Texans
  • Neil: Texans

Comments: The New Orleans Saints roll into Houston on the back of a tremendous 34-0 blow-out of the Patriots in Week 5. Can they now start to put some momentum together and turn this in to a potential playoff run?

The 2-3 Texans had a heartbreaking last-kick loss to the Falcons last week and will be keen to put that right in front of their home fans.

I’ve got a feeling that the Saints defense will cause havoc in Houston for CJ Stroud & co. and that will be the defining factor here. – Adam

Panthers (-13.5) @ Dolphins

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Dolphins
  • Alan: Dolphins
  • Jonny: Dolphins
  • Neil: Dolphins

Money Line: Panthers 11/2 & Dolphins 1/8

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Dolphins
  • Alan: Dolphins
  • Jonny: Dolphins
  • Neil: Dolphins

Comments: Just looking at these two offenses screams David vs Goliath to me.

The Dolphins are arguably the most electrifying attack in the NFL at this moment, leading in both passing and rushing yards. While Bryce Young has impressed so far in his rookie year as Carolina QB, there’s a reason they’re 0-5 for the season.

If any team in the NFL is capable of covering a big spread, it’s Miami. The Dolphins are 4-1 against the spread this season, covering a 11.5-point spread last week in a 31-16 win over New York. – Jonny

Colts (+4.5) @ Jaguars

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Jaguars
  • Alan: Jaguars
  • Jonny: Jaguars
  • Neil: Jaguars

Money Line: Colts 7/4 & Jaguars 4/9

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Jaguars
  • Alan: Jaguars
  • Jonny: Jaguars
  • Neil: Jaguars

Comments: The Jaguars finally return home after two straight weekends in their adopted abode of London Town, which resulted in back-to-back victories over the Falcons and more impressively, the Bills.

Can Trevor Lawrence keep up that momentum and now winning record against the similar 3-2 record of the Colts.

Despite continuing QB problems with no 4 draft Anthony Richardson, who this week was confirmed as suffering a AC joint injury and out for a month, Indy have managed to keep competitive, mainly through the grit and ingenuity of back-up Gardner Minshew.

The Colts are looking to win back-to-back games themselves for the second time this season but I think the Jags win this one and take top place in the AFC South. –  Adam

Sunday – 21:05:

Patriots (+3.5) @ Raiders

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Raiders
  • Alan: Raiders
  • Jonny: Raiders
  • Neil: Raiders

Money Line: Patriots 7/5 & Raiders 4/7

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Raiders
  • Alan: Raiders
  • Jonny: Raiders
  • Neil: Raiders

Comments: How does Bill Belichick come back from this one then? The Pats were out-and-out trash against the Saints and couldn’t even manage a field goal. After falling to a 1-4 record more and more questions are being asked of the starting QB Mac Jones and it must only be a matter of time before he is sat.

The Raiders picked up their second win of the season against a lacklustre Packers and whilst I don’t really rate them, I think they will have too much for a dreadful New England side. – Adam

Sunday – 21:25:

Lions (-3.5) @ Buccaneers

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Lions
  • Alan: Lions
  • Jonny: Buccaneers
  • Neil: Buccaneers

Money Line: Lions 4/7 @ Buccaneers 7/5

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Lions
  • Alan: Lions
  • Jonny: Buccaneers
  • Neil: Buccaneers

Comments: One of the games of the week for me, this.

The top of the NFC North takes on the top of the NFC South.

Tampa Bay had a bye week last week to rest up for this clash, while the Lions will be confident of securing another win after an impressive triumph over Carolina last week, where Jared Goff had 236 yards on 20-of-28 passing, with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Baker Mayfield has shown that there is life after Tom Brady for the Buccaneers, and he’s been mightily impressive so far this season.

I’m going to side with Tampa Bay for this one, as I think the extra week of rest could prove to be pivotal in a game of fine margins. – Jonny

Cardinals (+6.5) @ Rams

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Cardinals
  • Alan: Rams
  • Jonny: Rams
  • Neil: Rams

Money Line: Cardinals 12/5 & Rams 1/3

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Rams
  • Alan: Rams
  • Jonny: Rams
  • Neil: Rams

Comments: Both nurse losing records, but for Arizona it’s much more comprehensive. The Rams at SoFi should really be taking this for me, and the spread of around -6.5 doesn’t look remotely insurmountable.

These two trail in the NFC West against the 100% Niners and the very promising Seahawks, and postseason already looks like a mythical kingdom many leagues away. If the Rams – Stafford, Kupp, Donald et al, harbour hopes still, which I’m sure they do, this is a must-win – Alan

Eagles (-6.5) @ Jets

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Eagles
  • Alan: Eagles
  • Jonny: Eagles
  • Neil: Eagles

Money Line: Eagles 1/3 & Jets 12/5

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Eagles
  • Alan: Eagles
  • Jonny: Eagles
  • Neil: Eagles

Comments: A ‘mere’ -6.5 spread here is testament to the excellent job being done by Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh. Despite the all-star Eagles rolling in to MetLife with a perfect record, it’s felt by the odds-makers there’s only a TD or so between them. Hmmm …

New York will be without the injured, starting right tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker – and the much-sacked Zach Wilson could be in for another uncomfortable time.

Philadelphia haven’t engaged the loftier gears yet for me but when they do someone is going to suffer. Perhaps not the Jets, in terms of a drubbing – but Hurts, the brilliant Swift and company cover in my book – Alan

Monday – 01:20:

Giants (+14.5) @ Bills

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Bills
  • Alan: Bills
  • Jonny: Bills
  • Neil: Giants

Money Line: Giants 11/2 & Bills 1/8

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Bills
  • Alan: Bills
  • Jonny: Bills
  • Neil: Bills

Comments: I’d rather judge the Bills on their pasting of Miami than being upset in London by the well-acclimatised Jags. The latter defeat is surely a blip and in any event Trevor Lawrence and co will burst many a balloon between now and February.

25/1 Jacksonville for Super Bowl LVIII, anyone?

Tough ask this for the Giants, and we have one of those horrible, yawning spreads; around -14.5. Buffalo will be itching to erase those UK blues – Alan

Tuesday 01:15:

Cowboys (-1.5) @ Chargers

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Chargers
  • Alan: Cowboys
  • Jonny: Chargers
  • Neil: Cowboys

Money Line: Cowboys 10/13 & Chargers 11/10

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Chargers
  • Alan: Cowboys
  • Jonny: Cowboys
  • Neil: Cowboys

Comments: Let’s simplify matters; we have the Chargers and their ranked-fifth total offense, against the Cowboys and their ranked-fifth total defense. Given that the Chargers’ total defense is ranked 31st this could be a very interesting and explosive affair.

Who would want to chalk this one up – and I’m not surprised it’s virtually a pick ‘em. By virtue of that grim-looking D statistic I’ll chance a road win for America’s Team – Alan

Season Records:

Against the Spread:

  • Adam: 38-40
  • Alan: 38-40
  • Jonny: 41-37
  • Neil: 38-40

Straight Up:

  • Adam: 45-33
  • Alan: 48-30
  • Jonny: 49-29
  • Neil: 45-33
