Lombardi trophy nfl super bowl

It's good to be back isn't it? After an enthralling opening week of the 2024/25 NFL season, our attention turns to Week 2, as our tipsters look to predict who will prevail.

Adam was the standout performer last week, going 11-5 when picking against the spread and more impressively 13-3 when picking on the moneyline. Jonny followed closely behind on the moneyline picks at 12-4, while Alan and Neil were both 11-5 straight up.

Alan and Neil also went 9-7 and 10-6 respectively against the spread,  however, it was a week to forget for Jonny (6-10 ATS).

Friday - 01:15

Bills (+2.5) @ Dolphins

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Dolphins
  • Alan: Dolphins
  • Jonny: Dolphins
  • Neil: Bills

Moneyline: Dolphins - 8/11, Bills 23/20

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Dolphins
  • Alan: Dolphins
  • Jonny: Dolphins
  • Neil: Bills

Comments: An absolute cracker to commence Week 2, this.

Miami came back from a 10-point deficit to win their season opener, which is hardly surprising as they have one of the most explosive squads in the entire NFL. Despite the Bills' roster turnover in the offseason, Josh Allen remains an elite quarterback who spearheaded his team to victory last week, too.

The battle between Allen and Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa is going to be fascinating to see, and the latter has elevated his game since Mike McDaniel became the head coach in 2022.

The difference-maker here for me, as obvious as it is to state, is Tyreek Hill. The former Chief had seven receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown in the win over the Jaguars, and it's hard to see the Bills slowing him down here. - Jonny

Sunday - 18:00

Raiders (-9.5) @ Ravens

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Ravens
  • Alan: Raiders
  • Jonny: Ravens
  • Neil: Raiders

Moneyline: Ravens - 2/9, Raiders - 7/2

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Ravens
  • Alan: Ravens
  • Jonny: Ravens
  • Neil: Ravens

Comments: Baltimore made a decent fist out of a tough opening assignment at Arrowhead and King Henry made his mark - that could be a very fruitful new association.

The Raiders didn't get their running game off the ground at SoFi and despite Minshew's aerial prowess they mustered just ten points all told against the Chargers. The Ravens look a rock-solid M/L play at home, even if Lamar Jackson didn't practice earlier in the week, but that spread is potentially problematical.

Fingers crossed Lamar's ok for weekend - Alan

Chargers (-6.5) @ Panthers

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Chargers
  • Alan: Panthers
  • Jonny: Chargers
  • Neil: Chargers

Moneyline: Panthers - 12/5, Chargers - 1/3

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Chargers
  • Alan: Chargers
  • Jonny: Chargers
  • Neil: Chargers

Comments: LA trumped Las Vegas in week 1, while Carolina were taken apart by the Saints in the Dome. Cue massive spread, which to be honest looks justified on that Panthers showing BUT with home field they MIGHT be able to stay close enough to get something out of the game - a loss, but not quite by the anticipated margin.

They need to bounce back soon or it could be a nightmare season, which is no good for anyone - Alan

Saints (+6.5) @ Cowboys

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Saints
  • Alan: Saints
  • Jonny: Cowboys
  • Neil: Saints

Moneyline: Cowboys - 4/11, Saints - 9/4

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Cowboys
  • Alan: Saints
  • Jonny: Cowboys
  • Neil: Cowboys

Comments: Saints had some target practice against Carolina but will find life tougher at AT&T in Arlington. As for Dallas, it was comfortable enough in Cleveland, posting 33 points without really hitting their straps (3rd down efficiency 4/14, and 3 sacks allowed).

One of the best match-ups of the weekend for me, and it could be very tight. I fancy the Saints on the spread but it's a coin-toss for me on the money, so I'll go with the value shout - Alan

Buccaneers (+6.5) @ Lions

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Buccaneers
  • Alan: Lions
  • Jonny: Buccaneers
  • Neil: Lions

Moneyline: Lions - 3/10, Buccaneers - 13/5

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Lions
  • Alan: Lions
  • Jonny: Lions
  • Neil: Lions

Comments: Initial reaction is that the Lions did extremely well to take down the Rams in week 1, as Stafford and Kupp in particular were firing on most cylinders.

Jarod Goff and company countered on the deck in the main, while over at Raymond James Baker Mayfield was having himself a day against the Commanders (289 yds, 4TDs, no picks).

Could be a high-scoring feast this - and if you've a cast-iron notion as to which way it's going to go I admire your clarity. I'm treading tentatively and though there's little wriggle-room in a 51.5 total I'm still going to have a shilling on the 'over' - Alan

Colts (-3.5) @ Packers

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Colts
  • Alan: Colts
  • Jonny: Colts
  • Neil: Colts

Moneyline: Packers - 7/5, Colts - 4/7

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Colts
  • Alan: Colts
  • Jonny: Colts
  • Neil: Colts

Comments: I did fancy the Packers to take this game, but the injury to Jordan Love has influenced that decision massively.

Love is uncertain to feature in his encounter, but it could have been worse, as it appears that the QB won't be out for the remainder of the campaign.

In the defeat to Houston, the Colts showed glimpses of what they could become, with number four pick Anthony Richardson having two passing touchdowns and one rushing score.

The Packers have consistently struggled against the running game, and were lit up by Saquon Barkley last week for more than 100 yards and three total touchdowns. If the Colts utilise the running game effectively here, they'll take the 'W'. - Jonny

Browns (+3.5) @ Jaguars

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Jaguars
  • Alan: Jaguars
  • Jonny: Jaguars
  • Neil: Jaguars

Moneyline: Jaguars - 4/7, Browns - 7/5

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Jaguars
  • Alan: Jaguars
  • Jonny: Jaguars
  • Neil: Jaguars

Comments: I do really like the Browns defense but that Deshaun Watson trade looks worse with every day that passes - and it looked pretty poor when it happened!

Jacksonville are a strong all-around team. They have playmaker on the defensive side of the team, a good QB with a plethora of above-average receivers. I got the Jags here and think they'll cover with relative ease - Neil

49ers (-5.5) @ Vikings

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: 49ers
  • Alan: Vikings
  • Jonny: 49ers
  • Neil: 49ers

Moneyline: Vikings - 11/5, 49ers - 4/11

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: 49ers
  • Alan: 49ers
  • Jonny: 49ers
  • Neil: 49ers

Comments: Despite Christian McCaffrey being out, San Francisco absolutely dominated the Jets on Monday night, however, I think this is a tricky test for the 49ers.

It remains to be seen whether CMC features here, and Minnesota's showing against the Giants will have instilled some confidence in the Vikings roster.

Last season, the Vikings were one of the worst teams in the NFL at home as they were 2-6 ATS. On the contrary, the Niners were 6-3 ATS on the road last term,  suggesting that's the play here.

It's a short turnaround for SF though after the Monday night game against the Jets, so the score could be closer than anticipated. - Jonny

Seahawks (-3.5) @ Patriots

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Patriots
  • Alan: Patriots
  • Jonny: Seahawks
  • Neil: Seahawks

Moneyline: Patriots - 6/4, Seahawks - 8/15

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Patriots
  • Alan: Patriots
  • Jonny: Seahawks
  • Neil: Seahawks

Comments: Despite my surprisingly accurate predictions last week, the Patriots were the biggest shock to my system in easily beating the Bengals.  Now, I just don't know what to expect against a Seahawks side, who just about got past the Broncos, after getting 'safetied' twice in the opening half.

I'm gonna jump on board the Bill Belichick-less Pats to play like a classic Belichick side and drive Seattle into the ground at Foxborough. - Adam

Jets (-3.5) @ Titans

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Jets
  • Alan: Jets
  • Jonny: Jets
  • Neil: Titans

Moneyline: Titans - 6/4, Jets - 8/15

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Jets
  • Alan: Jets
  • Jonny: Jets
  • Neil: Titans

Comments: Aaron Rodgers is back and the 40-year-old looked adequate in his return but the Jets were comfortably beaten by the behemoth that are the San Francisco 49ers. Personally, I'm not sure that he has the 'it' factor any more and will be nothing more than a serviceable QB who can do a job.

Will Levis did not impress as the Titans squandered a huge lead at home to the Bears last week. I'm not giving up on the mayonnaise fan just yet however and he still has a fine 1-2 WR combo of Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins. Tennessee need to push the ball further down the field but think this is a great upset spot for the straight-up home win - Neil

Giants (+2.5) @ Commanders

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Commanders
  • Alan: Giants
  • Jonny: Giants
  • Neil: Commanders

Moneyline: Commanders - 4/5, Giants - 21/20

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Commanders
  • Alan: Giants
  • Jonny: Giants
  • Neil: Commanders

Comments: Both of these teams lost in the opening week, but it's fair to say that the Giants' situation looks far more dire than the Commanders.

Daniel Jones may as well have not shown up against Minnesota, however he's 5-1-1 in his career against Washington which offers some hope for Big Blue.

With a tough schedule coming up, this could be the Giants' last 'winnable' game before these two meet again in November, and NY's offence surely can't be any worse than it was against the Vikings, so I think Big Blue will bounce back here.  - Jonny

Rams (+1.5) @ Cardinals

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Rams
  • Alan: Cardinals
  • Jonny: Rams
  • Neil: Cardinals

Moneyline: Cardinals - 5/6, Rams - 1/1

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Rams
  • Alan: Cardinals
  • Jonny: Rams
  • Neil: Cardinals

Comments: Arizona may have been the most impressive team who took the 'L' in Week 1 as they gave Buffalo everything they could handle in up state New York. Marvin Harrison Jr. may have only caught one pass on Sunday but that will change in a hurry. He has plenty about him to be the breakout star among the rookie class. I'm surprised they are only giving 1.5pts and I'd be comfortable giving at least 3.5 - Neil

Steelers (-2.5) @ Broncos

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Steelers
  • Alan: Broncos
  • Jonny: Steelers
  • Neil: Broncos

Moneyline: Broncos - 13/10, Steelers - 8/13

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Steelers
  • Alan: Broncos
  • Jonny: Steelers
  • Neil: Broncos

Comments: The Broncos really should have won last week in Seattle and their defense looked tremendous at times. However, new QB Bo Nix had a shocker in his long game, throwing 2 for 12 and had two interceptions when throwing over 10 yards.

Meanwhile, the Steelers looked solid on the back of their run game and they should have enough to beat Denver in front of their home fans. - Adam

Bengals (+5.5) @ Chiefs

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Chiefs
  • Alan: Chiefs
  • Jonny: Chiefs
  • Neil: Chiefs

Moneyline: Chiefs - 2/5, Bengals - 2/1

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Chiefs
  • Alan: Chiefs
  • Jonny: Chiefs
  • Neil: Chiefs

Comments: Anyone who spends any time on Twitter (now X) will know just how much the Bengals fans hate the Chiefs Kingdom. They seem to delight in reminding the Kansas City fans that Joe Burrow owns Arrowhead and conveniently forget that the Chiefs have won three of the last five Super Bowls.

Burrow is back in town on Sunday night, on the back of a torrid performance against New England and Cincinnati are a woeful 1-10 in the first two weeks since hiring Zac Taylor.

The Chiefs meanwhile looked pretty impressive against the Ravens and yes the 'Toe' may have prevented the game going to overtime but I still think KC would have found a way.

I'm going against the whole 'Burrowhead' narrative and taking the Chiefs to win this one fairly comfortably - Adam

Monday - 01:20

Bears (+6.5) @ Texans

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Texans
  • Alan: Texans
  • Jonny: Bears
  • Neil: Texans

Moneyline: Texans - 1/3, Bears - 12/5

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Texans
  • Alan: Texans
  • Jonny: Texans
  • Neil: Texans

Comments: Two teams who were impressive in their own ways in week 1. Sure, Chicago were terrible in offense, with rookie QB Caleb Williams failing to get over 100 yards passing, but their defense more than made up for it on the day.

Meanwhile, Houston were able to scrape out a narrow win over AFC South rival Indianapolis, with Stefon Diggs looking right at home, as did running back Joe Mixon, who went for over 150 yards.

I think it could be a lot more comfortable for the Texans on Monday night, with Diggs, Mixon and QB CJ Stroud causing havoc.  - Adam

Tuesday - 01:15

Falcons (+6.5) @ Eagles

Picks ATS:

  • Adam: Eagles
  • Alan: Falcons
  • Jonny: Eagles
  • Neil: Eagles

Moneyline: Eagles - 1/3, Falcons - 12/5

Picks Straight Up:

  • Adam: Eagles
  • Alan: Falcons
  • Jonny: Eagles
  • Neil: Eagles

Comments: Anyone who has seen me in person at any point in the past 15 years will likely have seen me wearing a Penn State Hoodie. I'm a huge Nittany Lions fan and watching Saquon Barkley's talents being wasted behind that horrendous O-Line in New York was not fun. When he moved to Philly in the off-season, I said he'd have a renaissance and three TDs in the season-opener makes me feel pretty darn good.

Atlanta are getting a good number here but I'm comfortable with all the weapons Jalen Hurts has at his disposal that the home side win and cover - Neil

Season Records:

Against the Spread:

  • Adam – 11-5
  • Alan – 9-7
  • Jonny – 6-10
  • Neil – 10-6

Straight Up:

  • Adam –13-3
  • Alan – 11-5
  • Jonny – 12-4
  • Neil – 11-5
