NBA Betting Tips: 5/1 treble for Wednesday night

After our two picks for the opening night of the 2024/25 NBA season flew in, we've got a plethora of games to enjoy on Wednesday night (early hours Thursday morning UK time).
My NBA betting tips for Wednesday will focus on Indiana's trip to Detroit, Golden State's encounter with Portland and a huge Eastern Conference match-up between Milwaukee and Philadelphia.
NBA Betting Tips - Wednesday, October 23
Treble pays 5.75/1
Detroit Pistons vs Indiana Pacers - Indiana Pacers -5.5 @ 1/1
The Pacers were one of the surprise packages last season, making the Eastern Conference Finals, and in Tyrese Haliburton they have one of the best point guards in the league.
There's a lot to be excited about for Indiana, in my opinion. Will they repeat last season's heroics? Honestly, who knows but starting the season against a woeful Detroit outfit is a nice way to do so.
The Pistons parted ways with head coach Monty Williams after he led them to the worst record in the NBA (14–68), and now J. B. Bickerstaff somehow has to get a tune from this roster. Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey are two young, exciting pieces to build around, however.
The closest Detroit got to Indiana last season was eight points, with the Pacers having no trouble slicing and dicing through the Pistons’ defence. Indiana won and covered all four times they played Detroit last term, so I think we'll see the same outcome again here.

Philadelphia 76ers vs Milwaukee Bucks - Milwaukee Bucks -2.5 @ 10/11
This clash is potentially one we could see come play-off time, with both teams looking to prove their championship credentials here.
The Sixers pulled off one of the more significant moves of the offseason in signing Paul George, but he suffered an injury during pre-season, while question marks also surround the health of star centre Joel Embiid. I do believe that health will be the decisive factor in Philly's season, and how far they can go.
For the Bucks, in many ways, this is a do-or-die season after a miserable campaign in 2023/24. The duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard didn't work out as many hoped it would, and Antetokounmpo has spoken about potentially being traded if Milwaukee fail to win it all this year.
Despite being favourites for the game, I think Philly will struggle here, especially without George and Embiid. The Bucks won all three regular-season meetings last year and are currently on a four-game win streak in head-to-head meetings, so I'm taking Milwaukee.

Golden State Warriors -4.5 @ 10/13
The Warriors are looking to bounce back this year after a disappointing 2023/24 season, finishing 10th in the Western Conference and eventually losing in the play-in tournament to the Sacramento Kings.
Golden State made some big moves in the off-season, sending long-time shooting guard Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks in a sign-and-trade deal, while signing some solid rotational pieces in Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson, and De’Anthony Melton.
In addition, the Dubs were dominant in pre-season, going 6-0, and after Stephen Curry's heroics during the Paris Olympics in the summer, I think the Warriors could surprise a few this term.
The Trail Blazers finished rock-bottom of the Western Conference, and I don't have much hope for them this year.
They'll start the season without Shaedon Sharpe (shoulder) and Matisse Thybulle (knee), but I’m excited to see what Scoot Henderson can do in his second year in a Blazers uniform.
I think the Warriors should be comfortable here, if they bring their preseason form into this game.
