NBA Betting Tips: LeBron to steady Lakers ship in 4/1 price boost

So close! Yesterday's pick saw two-from-three land, but there's more NBA play-off action heading our way tonight where it's win-or-go-home for the Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors.
Read on for my NBA betting tips for 1 May 2026.

Money Line - Orlando Magic (vs Detroit Pistons) @ 27/20
I didn't think the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons, would be in this position - having to win game six of their opening play-off series to avoid being sent home.
The Pistons were in this position in game five, and credit to them, they came out fighting and and recorded a crucial 116-109 victory. However, game six heads back to Orlando, and I'm going to back the Magic on the money line.
I think Orlando were unlucky to lose game five - Paolo Banchero had a monster 45-point game but was let down by the rest of his team. If the rest of the Magic's starters step up to support Banchero tonight, it's bye-bye Detroit.

Cleveland Cavaliers -2.5 (@ Toronto Raptors) @ 10/13
The Cavaliers can send the Raptors packing here as they hold a 3-2 series lead heading into game six in Toronto.
The Raptors will be hoping their home support can galvanise them here, but Cleveland have the two best players in the series in Donovan Mitchell and James Harden, although the former has been inefficient in recent outings. Nevertheless, I'm taking Cleveland on the spread.
Cleveland went 25-16 on the road during the regular season, so likely won't be phased by a raucous home crowd. If Mitchell's shot isn't falling again, feeding the big men Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen could be the way to go for the Cavs here.

Price Boost - LeBron James 25+ points and Lakers to win @ 7/2 4/1
Finally, the Lakers attempt to secure their series against the Rockets for a third time.
Houston were 3-0 down but have won the last two to give themselves a fighting chance, despite missing Kevin Durant, and should they taste victory here, the pressure would really be on LA as no team in the history of the NBA has lost a play-off series after winning the first three games.
So, the momentum is firmly with Houston, so all eyes will turn to the veteran leadership of LeBron James to steady the ship. James rolled back the years to produce a masterclass in game one, and the Lakers could do with another from him here to get over the line.
I'm backing a tasty price boost which sees James score 25+ points and the Lakers win. He's currently averaging 22 points per game this series, and scored 25 in the game-five loss last time out.
Austin Reaves was rusty on his return, but I'm expecting the shooting guard to be much sharper here, paving the way for LeBron to bring home the victory.
