NBA Betting Tips: 6/1 shot for crucial cup clashes

There's more NBA Cup action heading our way this evening as the final five spots in knockout rounds are up for grabs.

Read on for my NBA betting tips for Tuesday, December 3 which features a 6/1 treble.

Charlotte Hornets vs Philadelphia 76ers - Under 208.5 points @ 10/11

There's only pride to play for here in terms of the NBA Cup as neither the Philadelphia 76ers or Charlotte Hornets can advance to the knockout rounds.

Their seasons in general have followed a similar trajectory, with the 76ers holding a record of 4-16 and the Hornets sitting at 6-14. Both teams also head into this clash on a five-game losing streak.

Both sides are set to be without key players - Joel Embiid's ongoing absence for Philly continues to hinder them, meanwhile Charlotte are similarly shorthanded with LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges and Tre Mann all missing from the lineup, meaning that three of their four best offensive weapons are sidelined.

So, I think points will be hard to come by in this one. Two teams in terrible form and both missing key pieces? Sounds like the perfect recipe for a low-scoring gane.

Phoenix Suns vs San Antonio Spurs - Spurs +5.5 @ 1/1

The San Antonio Spurs are looking to claim their sixth win in seven games when they face the Phoenix Suns in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

This is also a make-or-break NBA Cup game for both teams, who simply need to win if they wish to advance to the next round.

Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal headline Phoenix’s attack that puts up 113 points per game, but they're in the bottom 10 in the league when it comes to defensive rating.

Many thought the Spurs would be a lottery team once again this season but the addition of veteran point guard Chris Paul looks to have been a shrewd one, as the 2014 NBA champions are 11-9 for the season.  One of the main factors behind this is the development of last year's number one pick in the draft Victor Wembenyama, who continues to go from strength-to-strength, recording 34 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in Sunday's 127-125 road victory over the Sacramento Kings.

The Spurs have shown flashes of being a great team - can they step up and control of this contest? I think the Suns will probably have too much firepower, but it wouldn't surprise me if San Antonio covered the spread here.

Denver Nuggets vs Golden State Warriors - Warriors +5.5 @ 10/11

These two sides come into this encounter in similar veins of form.

The Nuggets put together five-straight wins to start November, but have only won three of their last eight games since that run. The Warriors are also trying to halt a slide in form themselves and head to Denver having lost their last four outings.

Golden State are a perfect 3-0 in terms of their NBA Cup record and have already secured their place in the knockout round, while the Nuggets sit at 1-2 and need to win this to have a real chance at advancing.

Denver have had the Warriors’ number in recent seasons with seven consecutive wins stretching back to the 2021/22 season. However, five of those games have been close, and won or lost late in the fourth quarter.

I fancy the Warriors to bounce back here despite not necessarily needing to win this game. They'll want to end their losing streak, and getting 5.5 points as the underdog just seems too many to pass up.
