Monday was a day to forget, after just one of my three tips landed, but there's a plethora of NBA action to enjoy tonight and I've picked out another treble.

My NBA betting tips for Thursday will focus on the all-Texas clash between Houston and Dallas, San Antonio's trip to Utah and a star-studded match-up between the LA Clippers and Phoenix.

NBA Betting Tips - Thursday, October 31

  • Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets - Under 225.5 points @ 10/11
  • Moneyline - San Antonio Spurs @ 11/10
  • Phoenix Suns -5.5 @ 10/11

Treble pays @ 6.65/1

Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets - Under 225.5 points @ 10/11

It's an all-Texas affair to kick things off as the Houston Rockets take on the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.

Both teams head into this one off the back of respective victories as the Mavs fended off the challenge of the Minnesota Timberwolves, while the Rockets defeated the San Antonio Spurs.

The Rockets' defence has improved drastically this term, allowing just 107 points per game compared to last season's average of 113.2. In addition, Jalen Green has increased his scoring output, and looks a star in the making for Houston.

However, the Rockets have won just once in their last seven visits to Dallas, who will on a high after a dramatic triumph over Minnesota, and are yet to taste defeat at home this term.

The Mavs will be hoping to go one better this year after losing in the NBA Finals last season, so their main priority will be making sure that they're fit and firing come play-off time.

I'm going to opt for the under on the points total here - the Rockets have gone over 225.5 points just once in four games, and the improvements on defence are quite noticeable. In addition, the under landed in Dallas's most recent home game against Utah.

Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets - Total Points Under 225.5

Utah Jazz vs San Antonio Spurs - Moneyline - San Antonio Spurs @ 11/10

Next up, we're heading to Utah for the Jazz's match-up against the Spurs in what is a contest of two young and developing squads in the Western Conference.

For the Jazz, Thursday’s clash presents another opportunity to secure the first win of the season before embarking on a four-game road trip. Injuries continue to add up for Utah, with Taylor Hendricks and Lauri Markkanen missing time this week, in addition to Isaiah Collier, who continues to recover from a pre-season injury.

The Spurs are, of course, led by reigning Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama, though they did add Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes in the off-season to provide some veteran support.

Both teams have struggled on the offensive end to begin the season, mainly as a result of shots not falling, and defensively, the Jazz will be focused on stopping Wembanyama.

Home-court advantage hasn't helped the Jazz, who were held below 100 points in their last two home games, which leaves the game in the hands of their defence, which has also been poor - allowing every opponent so far to score at least 110 points.

As mentioned, Utah are ravaged by injuries too, which is making me lean towards a Spurs win.

Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns - Phoenix Suns -5.5 @ 10/11

My final pick comes from the newly-built Intuit Dome where the Los Angeles Clippers will be looking to secure their first win in their new arena against the Phoenix Suns.

This will be the second meeting between the two sides in eight days, with the Suns claiming a 116-113 victory in overtime when they met in the season opener on October 26.

The Clippers fell 106-105 to the Portland Trail Blazers in their most recent home game, and including the back-to-back home defeats to the Dallas Mavericks in games two and five in the play-offs last season, LA have now lost four-straight on their own floor.

Meanwhile, the Suns ended the Los Angeles Lakers' 100 per cent record last time out, securing a 109-105 win when the sides met at the Footprint Center. Four players finished with double figures for Phoenix, led by Devin Booker's 33 and Kevin Durant's 30, demonstrating the offensive firepower Phoenix has this season.

The Suns are well-rested heading into this contest, and I believe they have enough weapons to deal with the Clippers' sturdy defence, so I'm taking them to cover here.
