Baseball 6

We’re four-for-four in our MLB tips so far this week so let’s go for a full half-dozen at a time when the Rockies have finally closed the book on an unwanted streak of 22 successive series losses.

Their back-to-back wins in Miami have taken away one of the go-to bets in the majors this year, but there’s plenty more value available as I compile my MLB Betting Tips for Wednesday.

MLB Betting Tips - Wednesday, June 4

  • Cardinals vs Royals: Over 9.5 Total Runs @ 6/4
  • Blue Jays vs Phillies: Over 10.5 Total Runs @ 7/5

Today’s MLB Odds

Cardinals vs Royals: Over 9.5 Total Runs @ 6/4

There was a total of 25 hits, 17 runs and a whole lot of air-bound baseballs at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night as the Kansas City Royals took the win against the St Louis Cardinals.

The forecast is for something slightly tamer on Wednesday (19:45 local, 01:45 Thursday BST) when Miles Milokas goes to the mound against Noah Cameron, who has allowed just three runs in the first four games of his embryonic Major League stint since being called up from AAA Omaha five weeks ago.

The lefty is only the second pitcher in 132 years to record four starts of 6.1+ innings and one or zero runs allowed to begin his MLB career.

Mikolas, meanwhile, is a dependable veteran whose current 3.90 ERA reflects a return to form after a downturn through 2023 and 2024.

He got a no-decision last time out though against the struggling Orioles, giving up four earned runs in four innings, and I just have a feeling that the Royals could also get to him here.

I fancy the over, all told, since Cameron’s hot streak can clearly not last forever and Mikolas’ run of three starts of one or fewer runs allowed came to an abrupt end in Baltimore.

With the bats looking hot last night, I’m tipping the same again tonight with the 6/4 about a 10-run-plus game giving us a bit of value at a 40% probability.

Cardinals vs Royals - Total Runs U/O 9.5 Over 9.5

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Blue Jays vs Phillies: Over 10.5 Total Runs @ 7/5

Yes, it’s an over double for Wednesday night, with the Blue Jays welcoming the Phillies back to the Rogers Centre (20:07 local, 01:07 Thursday BST, live on TNT Sports 2) after coming out on the wrong end of an 8-3 scoreline on Tuesday.

The Phils send out number six prospect Mick Abel two weeks after he made a dazzling debut in posting six scoreless innings against the Pirates, allowing five hits and striking out nine.

The Jays ought to be a tougher proposition than the Buccos though, with Addison Barger alone being in a great run of form with homers in four straight games, and Abel will do well to replicate that kind of form north of the border tonight.

Jose Berrios goes to the bump for the Blue Jays coming off the back of his own outing of six scoreless against the Athletics last Thursday.

The 10-year pro has posted a 2-2 record with a 3.86 ERA so far this year, but those ace showings have been sporadic to this point.

So with the Phillies way over league average for runs per game and the Jays sitting right around the mean, I’m forecasting another high-scoring matchup on Wednesday with the 7/5 odds working in the punter’s favour.

Blue Jays vs Phillies - Total Runs U/O 10.5 Over 10.5

Odds correct at time of publishing.
