MLB Betting Tips: Sensational Skenes and Dodgers dingers headline Wednesday action

Shohei Ohtani hit a 27th home run of the season on Tuesday as the Los Angeles Dodgers registered a predictable victory over the Colorado Rockies, and on Wednesday the exact same could happen again at Coors Field.

That is one of the eventualities I’ll be backing in my MLB Betting Tips for Wednesday, which can be found below.

MLB Betting Tips - Wednesday, June 25

  • Brewers vs Pirates: 1st 7 Innings Runs: Under 4.5 @ 23/20
  • Rockies vs Dodgers: Dodgers & Over 10.5 Total Runs @ 13/10

Today’s MLB Odds

Brewers vs Pirates: 1st 7 Innings Runs: Under 4.5 @ 23/20

Regular readers of this column will know that a Paul Skenes day generally gets my attention, and the same is true of the Pitttsburgh Pirates’ clash with the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field on Wednesday (13:10 local, 19:10 BST).

The NL Rookie of the Year takes his 1.85 ERA to the mound in Wisconsin having allowed just three earned runs over 33.1 innings pitched in his last four starts.

Skenes’ magic means that opposing teams are generally left concentrating on simply staying in the fight until the bullpens get involved, but the Brewers have as good a chance as any with rookie Jacob Misiorowski looking to continue his excellent start to life in the Majors.

The righty has allowed just one hit over his first two starts, striking out 11 against five walks in 11 innings pitched. And if he can replicate that sort of form today then the Brew Crew will be in with a shout come the later innings.

To take some of the unknowns of the bullpen out of it, I’m happy to back the two starters to dominate over the first seven innings. The under 4.5 bracket after seven gives us a 23/20 bet at an implied 46.5% probability which I think underestimates Skenes and Misiorowski.

Brewers vs Pirates - 1st 7 Innings Runs U/O 4.5 Under 4.5

Rockies vs Dodgers: Dodgers & Over 10.5 Total Runs @ 13/10

We didn’t quite land the Dodgers by 5+ selection last night, but I’m following a fairly similar brief for tonight’s clash when Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes on Chase Dollander (18:40 local, 01:40 BST).

That 9-7 Dodgers win only ended up being so close thanks to a late rally by the home team, but I see runs being the order of the day again in the thin air of Denver in game two.

Yamamoto has a 2.76 ERA so far in 2025, with that dropping to 1.76 in road games, but that will truly be tested in what is always the leading run-scoring ballpark in all of baseball.

Dollander will be hoping he gets plenty of run support if this one is going to remain competitive, with his 2-7 record and 6.19 ERA in 12 starts being pretty much par for the course for a Rockies side who are 18-61 and trending towards a 37-win season which would break the modern record.

This one could go one of two ways. Either the Dodgers dominate, scoring big en route to a comfortable victory which is amplified late on against the dregs of the Rockies’ ‘pen. Or the Rockies get to Yamamoto and make it a bit of a slugfest.

Whichever happens, I can’t see the Dodgers not winning, nor do I envisage bats being quiet. Shohei Ohtani will probably go yard again, and the Dodgers will likely make the Over 10.5 market look tiny.

At 13/10, and an implied 43.5%, this looks like a generous proposition.
