As is the tradition, Tuesday brings a full slate of Major League Baseball games for us to get our teeth into. And after Shohei Ohtani’s Dodgers pitching debut on Monday, we’ve got plenty more storylines awaiting us.

There are just two top-against-bottom contests, with plenty of series having a fair bit riding on them. Here are my MLB Betting Tips for Tuesday.

MLB Betting Tips - Tuesday, June 17

  • Phillies, Tigers & Rays Win Treble @ 2.83/1
  • Yankees Over 5.5 Runs @ 1/1

Today’s MLB Odds

Phillies, Tigers & Rays Win Treble @ 2.83/1

I like the look of these three teams to get over the top of their opponents in a 2.83/1 treble which implies a 26.1% probability.

The Philadelphia Phillies were 5-2 winners over the Miami Marlins on Monday as part of our last win treble, and they’re a 4/9 shot to follow that up with a game-two success at loanDepot Park (18:10 local, 23:10 BST).

They send out Jesus Luzardo (6-2, 4.23 ERA) against the Marlins’ Cal Quantrill (3-7, 5.61) and all the signs point to another W for the 43-29 Phils.

Their whole lineup has a pretty good record against Quantrill in the past, with Kyle Schwarber having gone deep on three different occasions off the righty.

One of the two 1v5 matchups sees the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers host the NL Central’s basement club, the Pittsburgh Pirates (18:40 local, 23:40 BST).

Casey Mize takes his 6-2, 2.95 figures to the mound against Bailey Falter (5-3, 3.36) in what should be a nip-and-tuck game on the face of it.

The difference, though, could be in the bullpen. The Buccos’ bullpen has just a 56 per cent record when it comes to saves this season having blown 12 opportunities to close the game out. That compares to the Tigers’ nine blown chances and 71 per cent conversion rate.

And for the third leg of this one, I have the second-placed Tampa Bay Rays to see off their AL East rival Baltimore Orioles at Steinbrenner Field (19:35 local, 00:35 BST).

I see the Rays’ Zack Littell (6-6, 3.84) out-duelling Dean Kremer (5-7, 4.99) and Tampa’s vastly-superior bullpen maintaining the edge late on.

Yankees Over 5.5 Runs @ 1/1

I can’t imagine anybody holds Kyle Hendricks in higher regard than your Cubs-supporting correspondent. The SoCal product was a massive part of Chicago getting to celebrate a World Series title back in 2016.

But recent years have seen his durability wane, and his early months with the Los Angeles Angels haven’t gone exactly to plan. He heads to the Yankee Stadium mound tonight (19:05 local, 00:05 BST) with a 4-6 record and a 5.20 ERA.

Having begun the season with two quality starts, two of his three such showings since have been on the edge of the threshold (both 6 IP, 3 ER), while his win over the Athletics last time out saw him pitch six innings for seven hits, three runs (two earned) with one walk and three strikeouts.

And I think he’s going to be much better than that against the Yankees, who boast a number of players who have good career records against Kyle.

The Yankees have Will Warren heading to the mound with his 4-3, 4.86 record not exactly glowing but he was excellent against the Royals in his last start, and their bullpen has been almost two runs per game better than the Angels’ so far in 2025 (3.59 ERA versus 5.47).

I see the Yankees should get on top in this one and then make hay against the underbelly of the Angels’ relievers, making the 1/1 price very appealing.
