MLB Betting Tips: Win treble behind hot hurlers highlights Tuesday picks

Tuesday’s slate of Major League Baseball brings a number of red-hot pitchers to the mound against struggling teams as clubs jostle for position ahead of the trade deadline.
My MLB Betting Tips for Tuesday will take into account the need for some play-off contenders to gather momentum immediately if they are to be buyers for the July 31 cut-off.
MLB Betting Tips - Tuesday, July 22
- Tigers, Phillies & Rangers Win Treble @ 2.39/1

Tigers, Phillies & Rangers Win Treble @ 2.39/1
The win treble might be the way to go if we feel like there are some potentially one-sided games on the horizon. And I do get that inkling.
I know I backed against the Detroit Tigers – and yes, it came in – but Tuesday is revenge night against the Pittsburgh Pirates since there will be no Paul Skenes on the mound for the visitors at PNC Park (18:40 local, 23:40 BST).
Casey Mize should get over the top of Mitch Keller, particularly since even in victory on Monday the Bucs again showed an inability to let loose with the bats, going scoreless in the last six frames.
The Philadelphia Phillies should also be able to ride a hot starter in Cristopher Sanchez against the Boston Red Sox, who have been scratchy since returning from the All-Star break.
Sanchez has a 1.27 ERA so far in July in three starts, all of at least seven innings in length. And that sort of form should be too much for the Sox’s Richard Fitts, who has been up and down between Fenway Park and AAA Worcester for much of 2025.
The final leg of the treble goes behind Jacob deGrom as the Texas Rangers welcome the Athletics. The four-time All-Star has been hugely consistent again this year, with a 2.32 ERA in 19 starts totalling 112.1 IP.
He opposes J.T. Ginn, who make his first start since returning from a quad strain. He’s been pitching from the bullpen over the last month, with results varying as a long reliever.
The 2.39/1 odds imply a 29.5% probability, but the reasoning behind the three picks puts that on the low side.

Rockies vs Cardinals: 1st 5 Winner/Runs Double: Cardinals & Over 6.5 @ 12/5
There’s not much good news for the Colorado Rockies these days, even if they are now finally trending to be better than the most terrible teams ever to play in the majors.
At 24-76, they remain the whipping boys, and on Monday they were dispatched by the St Louis Cardinals. More of the same is on the cards on Tuesday too.
Bradley Blalock is on the bump for the Rockies following his recent recall from the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes, giving up just one in 5.2 innings against the Cincinnati Reds in his one previous start since returning to the bigs.
But before then he was a sitting duck, hence his 9.97 ERA in six appearances (four starts) this season. And on Tuesday he’s up against Eric Fedde, who has been gettable of late but has the advantage of having the Cardinals offence in his favour.
While runs should be scored given the Coors Field factor, the Red Birds ought to have the edge and I like the look of that 12/5 and its implied 29.4% chance.
