Week 7 of the NFL regular season gets underway with Thursday Night Football(01.15 Friday uk time) from New Orleans, where the Saints host the Jacksonville Jaguars. We’ve taken a look at this and give you our betting predictions.
Jaguars vs Saints Betting Tips
The New Orleans Saints (3-3) come into this big Thursday night game on the back of a disappointing loss to the Texans and are struggling to live up to their pre-season hype as the team to beat in the NFC South.
Now, they face a Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) side that are flying at the top of the AFC South and looking to cement their playoff credentials. The Jags demolished the Colts last week but with quarter back Trevor Lawrence struggling with a knee sprain he picked up against Indy, this short turnaround couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Team news
There are currently a massive 13 players on the Saints injury report, with two offensive tackles confirmed as out, although QB Derek Carr is likely to play. RB Jamaal Williams is questionable to play.
Jacksonville have six players listed as injured heading into this one and while Lawrence is listed as questionable with a knee issue, he is expected to strap it up and play.
Match odds
New Orleans come into this one as slight favourites and are 5/6 on the moneyline as we speak. The Jaguars are an evens money shot and are a +1.5 favourite against the spread at 10/11. Total points is set at a 39.5 line, with unders at 20/21 and overs at 20/23.
Jaguars to win – EVS
The Jags are a team on the up right now and are a franchise full of self belief. It looks like Trevor Lawrence will at least start this game and he will be crucial to Jacksonville’s chances.
It may be the case that the Jags will run the ball more (see below) to limit the amount of strain Lawrence puts through that knee but I think either way they have too much to beat the Saints who look a mediocre outfit and can’t display any consistency.
Travis Etienne +49.5 rushing yards and to score a TD – 6/4
As mentioned above, with Lawrence not 100% the Jags will look to run the ball more and no one does that better than Travis Etienne.
The running back has five touchdowns on the season and is averaging over 75 yards a game.
This one looks exceptional value at the price.
