The second Christmas Day game is an NFC East matchup as the Super Bowl chasing Eagles take on a Giants team whose season has crumbled around them.

@NFLGirlUK takes us through her thoughts heading into this one and as always, we pick out a couple for bets for you to consider...

Eagles vs Giants Betting Tips:

  • Back Philadelphia Eagles -13.5pts on the Handicap @ 10/11
  • Back D'Andre Swift Over 74.5 Rushing Yards & a Touchdown @ 3/1

Another late-season division rivalry is coming with the Philadelphia Eagles going against the New York Giants. On paper, this feels like it’s going to be a blowout game, though it’s hard to tell sometimes.

The Eagles haven’t played well at all lately, while the Giants looked to be on a good streak before getting smashed by the New Orleans Saints on the road.

On the Eagles, the most important thing to note is their losing streak right now. They started the year 10-1, and everybody had their doubts about how this team could perform.

Most believed that the Eagles simply hadn’t played their best football yet and were still finding ways to win, others thought that this team just wasn’t as good as last year.

Well, both could have been true. They have currently lost three games in a row, to the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, and the Seattle Seahawks. Now, these are great teams in their own right, though the Eagles got dominated in two of those matchups. They haven’t scored over 20 points in any of those games either.

Jalen Hurts has looked somewhat indecisive throwing the football, the defensive secondary has been a massive issue, and confidence could be lacking. Philadelphia watched Hurts tell the media that their team could simply not be committed enough, and I’m sure that it didn’t feel good to hear that in the locker room.

Moving onto the New York Giants, they were turned around in a completely different direction when Tommy DeVito took over under centre. They had lost multiple games in a row, in what was turning into a horrible campaign under Daniel Jones.

When Tyrod Taylor took over, they looked a little better, though it still wasn’t enough. Then comes DeVito, somebody that had no expectations placed upon them. It took aa few weeks for him to settle in, then he won three straight before losing to the Saints. They got Darren Waller back on the field last week also but failed to utilise him entirely in that matchup.

New York has a horrible matchup here though. They have young and inexperienced cornerbacks going up against AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. It’s a matchup nightmare on that side of the field, and the Giants haven’t always proved capable of limiting the opposing offenses weapons. The Giants do have an advantage when attacking the Eagles secondary, but it’s going to be up to the offensive line to protect DeVito long enough to deliver those passes.

If the Giants upset the Eagles, it would cause shockwaves across the entire NFC Conference. I don’t see it happening though. The Eagles defensive line is a strength for them, while the Giants offensive line has been consistently horrible since the season began.

It’s a horrible matchup for them, and it’s one that will shadow how bad the Eagles are in the secondary. Mostly because they won’t be able to throw the ball down the field at all. With that being said, the Eagles will get back on track here.

Match Odds:

This is about as one-sided of a game as we've had according to the spread so far in this NFL season. If you want to take Philly on the spread then you'll be giving 13.5 points. On the Money Line the Eagles are just 1/8 with the New York Football Giants all the way out at 11/2.

The Over/Under line is set at 42.5 with Jalen Hurts as short as 8/13 to get into the end zone himself.

Bet 1 - Philadelphia Eagles - 13.5pts on the Handicap @ 10/11

Even though it is one of the biggest lines of the year, there is a reason for that. This is just a horrible matchup for the visitors and the Tommy DeVito magic has to end sometime.

This feels like a statement game for the Eagles to me and I think they win going away in what might be a bit of a dud as a contest.

Bet 2 - D'Andre Swift over 74.5 Rushing Yards & score a Touchdown @ 3/1

After two strange performances from the Philly offense and Jalen Hurts in particular, the best way to get back on track is to run the rock and the Eagles have a plethora of options in the backfield to do just that.

Obviously the QB himself can run but D'Andre Swift has shown that he's elusive and shifty. We should see a lot of him on Christmas Day as the home team get back to the basics. The 3/1 price feels like a decent shout with the expectation that he features heavily in the game plan.
