Match Odds
This is the third of three great games on Sky Sports throughout Sunday and the traders have it as a close one. With home-field advantage generally said to equate to three points on the spread, the fact Philly are 2.5pt favourites says how close of a matchup this should be.
Straight up the Eagles are available to back at 8/13 with the Dallas Cowboys having odds of 13/10.
The Total Points line has been set at 46.5 and when you look at some of the fantastic defensive players both teams will roll out there, that might be a touch high.
Jalen Hurts and Tony Pollard are the only two players odds-on to score, both coming in at 10/11.
The winner of this matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles might go on to clinch the division down the line. The Cowboys are sitting at 5-2 with the Eagles just ahead at 7-1.
If the Cowboys were to get a MASSIVE win over their rivals, they could get themselves in a position that can only be dreamt of right now. Meanwhile, the Eagles want to continue dampening the Cowboys hopes of doing that by knocking them off here.
The Cowboys are definitely going to want to win this one, not just for their own playoff implications, but also for the public perception of their team.
Many people think that Dallas is just incapable of winning the big games, and it's been mostly true as of late. I mean, they were blown out by the San Francisco 49ers a few weeks ago in what was supposed to be a big test for them.
Now, they have an even bigger one with the Eagles. Dallas had a wonderful thrashing of the Los Angeles Rams last weekend, but that was also a game that they were expected to do well in. This really feels like a must-win game for them.
While some fans might point to them beating the Eagles last year as an example of them winning a big game, that Eagles team didn’t have Jalen Hurts available. It was Gardner Minshew at quarterback. So, Dallas has to be able to contain Hurts for an entire game here on the road, without Trevon Diggs at cornerback.
Diggs not being out there makes this game really hard to win for Dallas, and the biggest reason is because of AJ Brown. The Eagles receiver has topped 125 receiving yards in six straight games. He's been basically unguardable and in the same conversation as Tyreek Hill when it comes to the best receiver in the league right now.
Brown will have some plus matchups now that Diggs isn’t available and will force the Cowboys to overcommit to him. If that happens, look for DeVonta Smith, Julio Jones, and Dallas Goedert to get themselves some space to operate. It’s just another facet of the game that the Eagles seem to have a leg up in.
What’s interesting for the Eagles as well is that they just haven’t played their best football and yet they’re 7-1. Philadelphia is finding ways to win close games, and the Cowboys have really struggled to win their close games.
For the most part, Dallas has blown out lesser opponents and struggled with others on their level. They decimated the New York Giants, New York Jets, New England Patriots, and the Rams, all by double digit victories. Their other games were a loss to the Arizona Cardinals, a loss to the 49ers, and a three-point win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
This team really has to show the world that they can compete in top-tier matchups. In my opinion though, the most important matchup on the field will be the Eagles offensive line against the Cowboys defensive line.
Can the Eagles stout front limit Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence? If they can, Dallas will be in trouble. If this battle goes the other way though, watch out for those Cowboys.
