Cowboys vs Giants Predictions: Take the under as defence will be key

A classic NFC East rivalry kicks off Week 4 of the NFL season, as the Dallas Cowboys travel to MetLife Stadium to face the New York Giants on Thursday night (01:15 Friday, live on Sky Sports Main Event).

Both teams have a 1-2 record after three games, with Dallas losing back-to-back matches after winning in Week 1, while the Giants lost their first two contests before picking up their first victory of the season in Cleveland on Sunday. Team News

Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is questionable for Thursday’s game due to a thumb injury, while Dru Phillips is also a doubt after leaving Sunday’s outing against the Browns early.

However, Nick McCloud, who has missed two games with a knee injury, might be fit enough to play in Thursday night's encounter.

As for Dallas, Markquese Bell and Caelen Carson have not participated in practice this week so are set to miss out here, while Trevon Diggs and CeeDee Lamb are set to feature despite nursing foot and ankle injuries, respectively.

The Cowboys are favourites for the game at 2/5 on the moneyline, giving them an implied win probability of 71.4% while it's 2/1 to back the Giants straight up.

The spread is currently set at 5.5, and Dallas are 20/21 to cover and it's 20/23 for New York to do the same.

Under 44.5 points @ 20/21

Both teams have made a slow start to the season, which is why I'm opting for the under on the points line.

All three Cowboys games have generated more points than the line for Thursday's game, while all three of the Giants' outings have been under the same mark. It could go either way, truthfully, but I'm putting faith in the defences coming out on top.

Dallas scored 33 points in an emphatic win over Cleveland in Week 1, but their offensive firepower has dried up since, only managing 19 points against the Saints and 25 against the Ravens in Weeks 2 and 3, respectively.

The Giants sacked Deshaun Watson eight times in their victory over the Browns on Sunday, and they can certainly make life difficult for Dak Prescott too.

Malik Nabers to score a touchdown anytime @ 13/10

The Giants have been something of a one-man show offensively so far this season, with rookie Malik Nabers recording 271 receiving yards in his first three NFL outings.

To put this into context, the team as a whole have only 600 passing yards, illustrating the importance of Nabers to the Giants attack.

The former LSU star has improved in every game for New York, recording 66 receiving yards on his debut against the Vikings, before catching 10 passes for 127 yards, as well as a touchdown, in the defeat against the Commanders.

Nabers added two more scores in the victory over the Browns last weekend, and looks well worth backing to score anytime on Thursday night.
