The Chicago Bears and Houston Texans both recorded wins in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season and an exciting game is on the cards at the NRG Stadium on Monday morning (01:20 BST, Sky Sports NFL). Chicago secured a 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans on home soil, as number-one pick Caleb Williams started his NFL career with a victory.

Houston outfought the Indianapolis Colts 29-27 on the road, with quarterback C.J. Stroud once again on top form to steer his team to victory. The Texans are hoping to prove last season was no fluke after winning the AFC South with a 10-7 record, while the Bears finished bottom of the NFC North and have pinned all their hopes on Williams saving their franchise.

Bears vs Texans Betting Tips

  • Houston Texans -6.5 @ 20/21
  • Joe Mixon anytime touchdown @ 8/11

Team News

Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen has yet to practice this week due to a heel injury and he has been listed as questionable for Monday's matchup.

Fellow receiver Rome Odunze returned to light practice on Friday, but he too is questionable to feature, as is defensive end DeMarcus Walker.

Ryan Bates and Khari Blasingame have been ruled out, while Kiran Amegadjie, Marcedes Lewis and Zacch Pickens are expected to feature despite knocks.

Houston's M.J. Stewart has been ruled out with a knee problem, while Juice Scruggs and Dameon Pierce are listed as questionable.

Nico Collins and Dalton Schultz's injuries have not been specified, but both are expected to feature this weekend.

Bears vs Texans Odds

The Texans are 4/11 to win on home soil, while the Bears, who have won four of their last five matches against AFC South teams, are 11/5 outsiders.

DeMeco Ryans' team are -6.5 handicap favourites at 20/21, while Over 45.5 points is priced at 20/21.

Texans running back Joe Mixon is the favourite to score a touchdown at 8/11.

Houston Texans -6.5 @ 20/21

While the Bears won in Week 1, we did not see much from Williams or his team.

Chicago's number-one pick only threw 93 passing yards and finished with figures of 14-29 on his completions.

Chicago's resolute defence and Tennessee's lacklustre offence handed the game to the Bears, but Houston will provide a much tougher test.

Houston had the answers every time the Colts tried to break them down and the home crowd will look to unsettle Bears QB Williams in this one, although he has claimed "he doesn't feel pressure".

Overall, the Texans are more settled and ready for this Week 2 matchup and the Bears should be outclassed.

Joe Mixon anytime touchdown @ 8/11

Mixon was released by the Cincinnati Bengals in the summer despite recording four seasons of over 1,000 rushing yards.

In his first week as a Texans player, Mixon ran for 159 rushing yards on 30 carries. He even punched in his first touchdown in his new colours, and the Texans will once again look to get the best out of him in his first match at the NRG Stadium.
