Wimbledon Centre Court

Day three of Wimbledon sees defending men's champion Carlos Alcaraz continue his quest for a second Grand Slam this year, while 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu is also expected to be in action.

Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff and Jannick Sinner are other notable names who'll take to the court on Wednesday. Read on for my Wimbledon tips for Wednesday, July 3.

Tennis Odds

Carlos Alcaraz to beat Aleksandar Vukic 3-0 @ 4/11

Carlos Alcaraz began the defence of his Wimbledon crown with a straight-sets victory over world number 269 Mark Lajal in the first round on Monday.

The 21-year-old was not quite as his best to begin with against Lajal, but nevertheless he emerged triumphant, meaning that the world number three has won 26 of his 32 matches in all tournaments since the turn of the year, and he will back himself to progress to the third round at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

Aleksandar Vukic toppled Sebastian Ofner to book his place in the second round for a second successive year, and will now have his eyes set on a first-ever appearance in the third round at SW19. However, the Australian must replicate his solitary triumph over Alvarez in 2020 if he wishes to continue in this summer's tournament.

Alcaraz will want to make a stronger start here than he did in his opening match, and it's difficult to back against the Spaniard, who should have no issues in claiming a straight-sets victory.

Alcaraz to win 3-0 at 4-11

Jannik Sinner to beat Matteo Berrettini 3-1 @ 12/5

Few second-round draws come as brutal as the one Jannik Sinner faces at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

The world number one began his 2024 campaign at the All England Club with a four-set triumph over Yannick Hanfmann, improving his record in Slam matches this year to a sparkling 13-1.

That victory has set-up a blockbuster clash against his fellow countryman Matteo Berrettini, who may not be at the peak of his powers, but nevertheless remains a dangerous opponent on grass.

The two titans of Italian tennis have played once – Sinner was a winner in straight sets at the Toronto Masters last year – but never before at a Grand Slam tournament, and never on grass, which is Berrettini’s best surface.

Berrettini's time on tour in recent years has been blighted by injury, but in his first tournament on grass this season - in Stuttgart - he made the final, eventually losing to Britain's Jack Draper.

Sinner will be expected to prevail here but I don't think it will be in straight sets, so I'm taking the world number one to win by three sets to one at 12/5.

Sinner 3-1 at 12-5

Wimbledon Odds

Emma Raducanu to beat Elise Mertens 2-1 @ 3/1

Raducanu won 7-6, 6-3 over Renata Zarazua on her return to Centre Court on Monday, which she called 'winning ugly' and likened to England’s 2-1 victory over Slovakia at Euro 2024.

She now faces the experienced Elise Mertens in a second-round clash on Wednesday, and the Belgian came into Wimbledon on the back of early exits in Birmingham and Eastbourne, so Raducanu will fancy her chances here.

The two have never faced each other on tour before, and while I think Mertens could be classed as the favourite here due to her experience and ranking, I think the home crowd can help Raducanu get over the line and win this match in three sets.

Emma Raducanu to win 2-1 at 3-1
