Mackenzie McDonald to beat Felix Auger-Aliassime @ 6/5

It has been a season to forget for Felix Auger-Aliassime and the Canadian could be in for a tough time of it in his first match at the US Open against Mackenzie McDonald.

Looking to make the most of home advantage at Flushing Meadows, American McDonald reached the quarter-finals of the ATP Toronto and the last 16 at the Cincinnati Masters recently and looks ready to spring a surprise.

As for Auger-Aliassime, he lost his first matches at Wimbledon, the ATP Toronto and the Washington Citi Open, while his win-loss record stands at an unimpressive 14-14 this year.

Jasmine Paolini to beat Jelena Ostapenko @ 7/4

It looks set to be another wide open women’s Grand Slam event at this year’s US Open with reasons to take on market leaders Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, and there could be a few surprises in the first round of matches.

And one of them could come in the opener between Jasmine Paolini and Jelena Ostapenko.

Ostapenko is seeded 20th at this year’s US Open but has played only three times since Wimbledon, losing two of those encounters.

As for Italian Paolini, she was a quarter-finalist at the WTA Cincinnati recently and looks a value bet to win this match at 7/4.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina -5.5 games v Marcos Giron @ EVS

Last year Alejandro Davidovich Fokina made the fourth round of the US Open and he can make a strong start to his campaign in New York this time around.

Fresh from his best ever performance at Wimbledon, Davidovich Fokina made a positive impression on the hard courts with a run to the last four of the ATP Toronto.

That campaign featured wins over Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud and he should be a comfortable winner against American Marcos Giron, who lost both of his opening assignments at the Cincinnati Masters and the Winston-Salem Open.

Back Davidovich Fokina at -5.5 games.
