Yesterday saw two of my three selections land from my tennis betting tips, and I am hoping that Thursday can mark my first clean sweep of the week.

Across the Swiss and Swedish Opens there are some interesting battles in store, most notably Cameron Norrie vs Rafael Nadal from the latter. This match is included in my tips for the day, which you will find below.

Tennis Betting Tips - Thursday, July 18

  • Cameron Norrie to beat Rafael Nadal 2-1 @ 4/1
  • Total Games 2 - Under 21.5 in Daniel Ehali Galan vs Matteo Berrettini @ 6/5
  • Holger Rune to beat Marco Trungelliti 2-1 @ 11/4

Cameron Norrie to beat Rafael Nadal 2-1 @ 4/1

Earlier in the week, I tipped Norrie to fall at the first hurdle in Bastad and lose to Jozef Kovalik. The Brit instead won in straight sets, delivering an impressive performance as he appeared to bounce back from his crushing defeat against Alexander Zverev in the third round at Wimbledon.

His serving game against Kovalik was most impressive, and I do think he can hurt the greatest clay player of all time in Nadal. The veteran Spaniard made his way into the round of 16 with a win over wild card Leo Borg, who has had very limited experience at tour level.

Nadal will face a much sterner test in Norrie, whom he has sparred with several times before. Clay may be his domain, but Norrie is a player who is in better shape and better form than the tennis icon. Nadal has lost three of his last five matches and even though he defeated Borg, he was pushed to great lengths despite winning in straight sets.

He is not looking at his best while Norrie does look comfortable out on the court right now. I have gone for the Brit to win in three sets.

Cameron norrie to win 2-1 at 4/1 Total Games 2 - Under 21.5 in Daniel Ehali Galan vs Matteo Berrettini @ 6/5

Italian Matteo Berrettini will have been disappointed that his Wimbledon journey came to an end in the second round but the truth is he played brilliantly. He lost out to compatriot Jannik Sinner, who went on to the quarter-finals, in a five-set thriller that included three tie breaks.

He has so far carried that momentum with him into the Swiss Open as he defeated Argentine Pedro Cachin in straight sets in the first round. I am expecting him to achieve a similar victory against Daniel Elahi Galan, who despite being a strong player in his own right, I can't see laying a glove on Berrettini in this kind of form.

So the market I have gone for here is for there to be under 21.5 games in the match. I think the Italian will pull off another straight sets victory, and while I can see Galan winning a few games, I don't think it will be enough to take the total above 21.

Under 21. 5 games at 6/5 Holger Rune to beat Marco Trungelliti 2-1 @ 11/4

World number 17 Holger Rune is a tricky player to back right now. There are times that he can be commanding, and others where he appears to keep making the wrong shot choices. He defeated Fabian Marozsan in straight sets in the first round of the German Open, and he will be expected to beat Marco Trungelliti on Thursday.

The young Dane certainly has the quality to tussle with the best in the world, but at times it's his decision-making which holds him back. I think we will see moments of this in his match with Trungelliti, so I think that this contest will be taken all the way.

Rune will probably find this assignment tougher than it should be but I think he will still be able to deliver the quality needed to get him through. After all, he showed moments of great skill in his straight sets defeat to Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, so this contest should be considered much simpler for him.
