Monday is here and so too is a brand new week of tennis action. There are quite a few ATP Challengers taking place including in Bogota and Bonn, as well as qualification for ATP Montreal.

But my focus today is on the WTA Tour, particularly Hamburg, where my tennis betting tips for the day come from. Read on to find out today's selections.

Tennis Betting Tips - Monday, August 5

  • Mayar Sherif to beat Marie Benoit 2-0 @ 8/15
  • Anna Bondar -7.5 games handicap against Anna Petkovic @ 8/11
  • Nina Stojanovic to beat Noma Noha Akugue @ 1/1

Mayar Sherif to beat Marie Benoit 2-0 @ 8/15

Egypt's Mayar Sherif has been looking sharp on the tour in recent weeks, having reached the final at both the Makarska Open and Contrexeville. Unfortunately, she was defeated in both of them, but it still shows that her skillset has been serving her well of late to have made it to consecutive finals.

This is why I think she could be on for another good run in Hamburg this week. She takes on Belgium's Marie Benoit in this round of 32 tie, and I fancy her to triumph in straight sets. She is playing the better tennis of the two, and in Benoit's case, I think she could tire as the match goes on, with her qualifying victory over Mara Guth yesterday going the distance including a tie break.

Sherif will have confidence despite failing to claim two trophies in recent weeks, and I think the tennis she has been putting on show will see her cruise past her opponent on Monday.

Mayar sherif to win 2-0 at 8/15 Anna Bondar -7.5 game handicap against Anna Petkovic @ 8/11

Hungarian Anna Bondar heads straight into Hamburg after claiming the ITF Germany 09A crown, having beaten Ekaterina Makarova in straight sets on Sunday. This does not bode well for her opponent, Anna Petkovic, who is still quite raw when it comes to WTA tour-level events.

That is of course to be expected from a 19-year-old who is still developing her game, and she will see this tie first and foremost as an excellent test. She is coming up a well-seasoned player in Bondar, and one of the best ways to help her strengthen her game is to play against players who have been playing at the level for a long time.

However, I think Petkovic is in for a tough time here. Momentum is with Bondar, as is experience. She is the overwhelming favourite to win here, but I have sought better value in backing her to win with a -7.5 game handicap.

Anna bondar -7. 5 game handicap Nina Stojanovic to beat Noma Noha Akugue @ 1/1

An exciting encounter looks to be in store as Serbia's Nina Stojanovic goes head-to-head with German Noma Noha Akugue. With this selection I am backing experience to triumph over youth, so Stojanovic is going to be the winner in my opinion.

The bulk of her professional success has come in ITF events, but at 28, she has gained plenty of experience at WTA tour-level, which I think will serve her well in Hamburg for her latest match.

She will certainly have her work cut out for her as her opponent will be backed by the home crowd, so she will have to let her tennis do the talking. Back in June, she claimed her 10th career ITF title at the W15 Prokuplje, which I think can give her the edge in this contest.

Noha Akugue is still only 20, so she is still developing her game, but she will be relishing the opportunity to face someone with more years of experience on the circuit. I think she will lose here, but I think matches like this will aid her in the long run.
