Roland garros french open tennis

There was a slight improvement on Thursday, as one of my three tennis selections landed, but it's still not as good as I would like. To round off the week, I bid to improve my success rate on Friday with three more picks, which come from ATP Gstaad and WTA Hamburg.

Read on to find out my Tennis Betting Tips for Friday, July 18.

Set Betting - Alexander Bublik to beat Francisco Comesana 2-0 @ 8/5

Alexander Bublik was my successful tip yesterday, as I backed him to defeat fellow Kazakh star Alexander Shevchenko. Bublik did so in commanding fashion as he prevailed in straight sets to book his place in the quarter-finals at Gstaad.

He faces Francisco Comesana on Friday - a first-ever meeting between the pair on the Tour. The Argentine cruised into the last eight by defeating Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets 6-1 6-4.

Comesana faced just one break point during the match and won a commanding 91% of his first serve points. He’s into his first quarter-final since winning the Oeiras Challenger back in April.

He may be able to cause some problems for Bublik, but the Kazakh star has built up lots of momentum in recent months and his victory over Shevchenko last time out was wrapped up in just over an hour. Bublik won 80% of his first serve points and struck 20 winners to his opponent’s five.

He is a force to be reckoned with on clay and I think if he starts brightly, he will once again progress in straight sets.

Francisco Comesana vs Alexander Bublik - Set Betting Alexander Bublik 2-0

Match Betting - Arthur Cazaux to beat Jerome Kym @ 8/11

Staying in Switzerland, Jerome Kym and Arthur Cazaux go head-to-head for the first time in their careers, and both have performed well to make it to the quarter-finals. Cazaux has quietly built up momentum this week with his 32 aces split over two matches, aiding him to wrap things up in the decisive set.

His latest triumph against fourth seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry was considered an upset, as he saved 11 out of 12 break points on his own serve. The Frenchman will be spurred on by that win and his strong baseline game should cause problems for his next opponent

Kym has been making use of his wild card entry this week and he defeated Francesco Passaro last time out. His all-round game has been respectable but this is the first time he has reached the last eight of an ATP event, so we could see some nerves kick in on court.

Cazaux is around 40 places higher up the rankings than Kym and this is likely to show in his performance. He will be desperate to make his first semi-final appearance of the season, and I believe he can do just that.

Set Betting - Ekaterina Alexandrova to beat Anna Bondar 2-1 @ 3/1

I round off my selections in Hamburg, where Ekaterina and Anna Bondar collide in the quarter-finals for their second head-to-head contest on Tour. Alexandrova prevailed in the last meeting, which came back in 2018 at an ITF event in Hungary. She won in straight sets.

A lot of time has passed since then and Alexandrova faces a tougher test against her opponent here as Bondar is the defending champion. The Hungarian  survived a thriller against Noma Noha Akugue in the opening round to ensure her title defence did not end prematurely.

She then built on that with a straight-sets victory over Sinja Kraus last time out to book this clash with Alexandrova, the world number 16. Alexandrova's high-risk playing style  has somehow been very consistent over the last few months, which has made her a very dangerous opponent.

The Russian is enjoying a strong year and she knows that a victory here will see her bumped up to a career-high 12th in the rankings. She may be playing the reigning champion but she is currently the stronger player, so I think she'll prevail after three sets.

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Anna Bondar - Set Betting Ekaterina Alexandrova 2-1
