San Diego Open 2024 Odds: Outright tips at 15/2 and 14/1

The spring hard-court season is nearing its conclusion on the WTA tour but not before attention turns to a string of events in the USA.

First up is the San Diego Open, a WTA 500 event with an open feel to it this month.

Jessica Pegula is favourite to lift the trophy and returns as top seed but the American has been out with a neck injury and was dumped out of the Australian Open in the second round last month.

It could therefore be argued this tournament is anyone's for the taking with Beatriz Haddad-Maia, Emma Navarro and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova high up in the betting.

Tournament Odds

The pedigree of Pegula means she is 3/1 favourite to win the San Diego Open but, as she works her way back to full fitness, she will face plenty of competition.

Brazilian Haddad-Maia is 13/2, while Navarro is a 15/2 shot. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, meanwhile, is 8/1 and punters can back British number one Katie Boulter at 28/1.

Outright Winner - Emma Navarro @ 15/2

One player who could be looking to capitalise on Pegula’s issues is her compatriot Emma Navarro.

Navarro is still finding her feet on the WTA tour but the 22-year-old claimed her first title earlier this year by winning the Hobart International.

She then made a decent impression at the Australian Open, advancing to the third round, while she was also a semi-finalist at the ASB Classic in January.

Navarro had a tougher time in the Middle East, although she at least reached the last 16 of the Qatar Open and nicked a set off the talented Elena Rybakina.

Seeded third in San Diego, Navarro can now look forward to playing in front of home crowds and she looks a great selection to go the distance and win her first WTA 500 tournament this week.

Outright Winner - Dayana Yastremska @ 14/1

For those after a bigger price in the San Diego Open outright betting, Dayana Yastremska could be a worthwhile choice at 14/1.

Yastremska was another who failed to impress in the Middle East, losing her one and only match at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

But the San Diego Open offers her the chance to reset and she has certainly had her moments on the hard courts in 2024.

Yastremska was one of the standout players at the season's first Grand Slam, the Australian Open, reaching the semi-finals of the event last month.

In pursuit of her last-four berth, Yastremska beat the likes of Marketa Vondrousova, Navarro and Victoria Azarenka and she could cause a stir in California.
