SPOTY Odds 2024: Keely Hodgkinson odds-on after thrilling 800m gold

In an Olympic year, it's more often than not Britain's track stars who emerge as front-runners for the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year - and after striking gold in the Women's 800m this week, Keely Hodgkinson is the new favourite for the prestigious honour.
Here's the latest SPOTY Odds 2024.
SPOTY Odds 2024
All hail the queen of the track Keely Hodgkinson who is now odds-on at Betfred to be crowned the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
She became only the 10th British woman to win athletics gold at the Olympics when she stormed home in the 800m in Paris.
It was a case of when, not if the charismatic 22-year-old from Wigan would strike gold having picked up a silver medal in Tokyo 2020.
The Atherton-born Leigh Harrier, who reportedly lives a stone's throw from Old Trafford and naturally is a United supporter, now tops the SPOTY Odds at 4/6 after securing our 12th gold in France.
Hodgkinson is ahead of another young Olympic sportswoman, cycling sprint ace Emma Finucane, in the race for the most prestigious individual sports honour.
The 21-year-old cyclist from Carmarthen, who won our 11th gold as part of the sprint team, is second favourite for SPOTY at 4/1.
Next up is Warrington's darts superstar Luke Littler at 7/1, while popular cyclist Mark Cavendish from the Isle of Man is currently available at 10/1.
An indication of just how tough it will be to win this year's public vote is the fact that record-breaking England wicket taker Jimmy Anderson, who has retired from Test cricket, and Andy Murray, who has also called a day on his stellar tennis career, are both out to 40/1.
