Edinburgh host Ospreys at the Hive Stadium on Friday evening (KO, 19:35), with both sides aiming to cement their place in the United Rugby Championship's play-off places.

Following wins over Glasgow and Zebre, Sean Everitt's Edinburgh are fifth in the table and are now set to take on an Ospreys side who sit seventh but are just a point behind their opponents.

Edinburgh vs Osprey Betting Tips:

The Six Nations has arguably saved what has been a truncated, World Cup-affected season at domestic level and with the competing countries having their own rules regarding the release of their internationals for club games, fixtures like this one can provide a glimpse into the future.

Both showed by winning their last outings a fortnight ago that they have plenty of talent coming through but, despite their improvement, Ospreys struggled on the road earlier in the campaign and may fall short in bidding to maintain their recent rise.

Team News

Edinburgh have made four changes to the team that beat Zebre, with centre Mark Bennett coming in to make his 100th appearance for the club.

Ben Vellacott starts at scrum-half ahead of Ali Price, while lock Sam Skinner and flanker Tom Dodd are also included. Dodd replaces Jamie Ritchie, who started for Scotland in last week's Calcutta Cup win over England, while Skinner and fly-half Ben Healy both appeared off the bench.

Ospreys are without their recent Wales representatives but do have three-time British & Lions tourist Justin Tipuric as their captain.

Forwards Morgan Morris and Rhys Davies both return to the squad following injury and are among the replacements.

While a predominantly youthful side, the visitors can call upon Tipuric and another former Lion on the wing, Alex Cuthbert. Centre Kieran Williams and front-rowers Nicky Smith and Sam Parry have also received international honours.

Match Odds

Edinburgh are 1/5 to win, with Ospreys offered a 27.7 per cent chance at 18/5 and the tie available to back at 22/1.

The three-way handicap on Edinburgh is set at -10 and is available at 10/11.

Ospreys +10 @ 20/21

Scotland and Wales' differing policies regarding releasing players during the Six Nations clearly give Edinburgh an advantage. However, by the same token, Ospreys' XV will have spent more time together on the training paddock since their last-gasp win over Ulster on February 18.

Errors could be a factor and that might lead to a cagey game. A look at Edinburgh's recent home form shows a run of tight results either way, with six of their last seven outings at Hive Stadium being decided by eight or fewer points.

Ospreys have won their last two away games, beating Scarlets 25-11 before winning 38-28 in South Africa at Lions in the Challenge Cup.

After finishing 13th last season, Toby Booth's side has undoubtedly improved and their recent performances show they can now cut it on the road after losing seven in a row between February and December last year.

Whether they can win in the Scottish capital is unclear, but they can go close and the handicap afforded to them appears generous.

Ospreys +10 vs Edinburgh at 20-21
